Your LBs are in the good to pretty good range. Gods of football will allow you only ONE of the two following player combinations:

1- All pro-bowl caliber D-line and all journeyman secondary.
2- All journeyman D-line and all pro-bowl caliber secondary.
3- Gods of football should get Gaz's OK first.

Which one would you pick? Why?

If it's an either-or, I go for the all pro line and journeyman secondary. An all pro secondary and a bad line wouldn't do you much against the run, and any secondary will lose if the QB isn't under any pressure. Nobody can cover receivers under today's rules for 6-8 seconds consistently.

I'd rather have them all be all pro, of course...

umm...Id say D-line because they can free up every other person on that D.

All pro-bowl caliber D-line and all journeyman secondary. First thing is to stop the run. Once yo succeed, then release them aganist the QB. A all-pro D-line can make the journeyman secondary average at best (See Carolina 2003.)

I give up. Ignore the Gaz option!

D-Line. Insert cliche but true "it all starts up front" .

Defensive Line. No contest at all.

PASSING D:
The NFL is slowly but surely phasing out the Defensive secondary. Next year, DBs will be required to wear mittens and leg shackles to increase the number of completions. Under the current rules, you must defend against the pass by attacking the QB.

RUNNING D:
Obviously, a stout DLine does far more in run D than a stout secondary.

…Gotta go with the line, for all the reasons stated above.

Yep. Also see New England 2004. Not the whole secondary, but the CBs. I mean, they had a WR playing nickel back for crying out loud. And it worked for them.
