DAWES: FROM THE MAILBAG
Dec 01, 2005, 4:54:59 AM by Rufus Dawes

Q: Your columns, which I have enjoyed making fun of on ChiefsPlanet.com, donít seem to appear as often as they did. Is there any particular reason?

RUFUS DAWES: Creeping fatigue as much as anything, that and an elderly mother that requires my care. I recall reading somewhere the political pundit, author, and Editor William Buckley telling a story about a friend he had taken on a sailboat race. ďA great experience,Ē the friend told a reporter, later telling Buckley, ďDear Bill, it was fun, but donít invite me again.Ē Thatís sort of where I am. Interest is lagging, and certainly not enough to keep me spinning out two columns a week. Besides, Ms. Eileen Weir has picked up nicely in my absence and is a far better writer than I could ever hope to be.

The head coach search must be consuming too much of Carl's time.

I thought it was widely known that Rufus was the pseudonym for several contributors. I guess the pool of Carl apologists is drying up?
