I wish he would scrap it, it sucks. Oh, and we suck too. No defense, no outside shooting, no ball security.

Good gawd, skip.

Give it some time. There's a lot of talent on that squad. They just need some time to gel. I can't believe I'm consoling a KU fan.

Everyone says that KU doesn't rebuild, but this season will definitely have ups and downs with a lack of veteran leadership at the helm.

That was a tough loss, but we should have switched to the zone earlier and our perimeter shooting (or lack thereof) killed us.

Oh well. This team will get better with time - and I never expected us to be tournament bound this year.

Read on KUSports.com that Self likes that his team fights until the end. We saw that tonight. Give 'em time, I think there gonna be pretty solid.

We shouldn't, but Self has his team's transition almost complete and it'll take a while for things to really take hold. And by a while, I mean only a few games, hopefully. :hmmm:

Well, Nevada's no slouch, obviously. They'll keep learning. Really impressed with Sasha Kahn. He has improved dramatically since last year.

Yeah, Kaun has really stepped up lately. I'd like to see Downs get more threes with that killer range of his and Rush should go inside more while working on his jumper. He can really hurt teams with the inside-outside.

well if we win on saturday that puts us where we were roy's last year, at 3-3 with 2 losses to ranked opponents. Our main problem is lack of decent junior/senior classes, 2 walk ons leading the way there.

you can't win if you can't shoot

Self can't scream about toughness and defense all day long but if he never develops any shooters then nothing else will matter. :(

I don't understand why the ball wasn't going to Rush or Kaun on that last play. Those guys could do whatever they wanted during the game, esp Rush. Self shoulda stuck with the zone in the end; it was quite effective.

Nice show of class by assistant coach Dooley hurling an F-U at Fazekas in the handshake line. Also, I thought Billy's rug was going to fly off during his postgame temper tantrum.

He wanted a foul at the end. If that play happened during the middle of the game, he probably would have gotten it, too.

If any of the KU players were under control during that play, I may agree with you. But when a guy just drives into the lane recklessly and throws the ball around, the refs usually don't reward him with a foul call, even in the middle of the game.

I don't think you would normally get that call either. It was a move into traffic for the purpose of hoping you can draw a cheap foul and not have to make a shot.

There is no way a ref will make a call like that at the end of a game. Just like the no call when Kaun bumped the NV player just before that play.

Can't stay in the zone when you have no TO's and are playing catch-up in the last 1:50.

While I agree to an extent, citing some game decisions, I have to allow more time. This is truly his class, his year, at the helm. For that, and the age of the team, I must put off any critizing of his coaching ability until later.

Recent game decisions that I second guess: Vinson seeing any playing time in a close game, taking Downs out of the game, continual faith in Hawkins who is probably shooting about 10% and contributes very little, and not finding Wright a position that suits the team, and him.

Chicago State went up 39-34 over UC-Davis, but faltered and found themselves down 52-41. Did they give up? Hell no, and they clawed their way to a two-point lead after playing some inspired ball on both ends of the court. UC-Davis had the last shot, and of course, someone just HAD to foul the fricking shooter as the ball went into the net with two seconds left...

No problem, boblem. Inbounded to Jones, Jr., who raced down the court and drilled a three at the buzzer to lock up a 63-61 win in an amazing 31-point effort! Once the Cougars faced that 11-point deficit, it was either "give it everything" or "go the hell home," and their shining effort was capped off in a well-deserved win.

The fact Illinois seems to have gotten better immediately after he left also adds to the plot a bit.

Anyone think he is on the hot seat if the full season were to play out like it has to date?

There are some restless natives on the KU boards. I'm going to give him more time. He's won everywhere he's been.
