Is this movie seriously about two gay cowboys? What a freaking title. They should have just gone all the way and called it Bareback Mountain.

Lordy.

I haven't heard of that movie before. Is it being played in regular theaters or the kind where deposit quarters?

I thought Jake Plummer was staring in this. Oh well, gay cowboy movies aren't my area.

It's actually based on a short story by E. Annie Proulx, who I really like. It's all directed by Ang Lee. I'm sure it's a quality movie, I just found the title really funny.

Why do you hate gay people? Shouldn't they have a right to cowboy movies of their own where the term "ropin' and ridin" takes on it's very own special, intimate meaning?

Where chaps aren't just for working hours?

Where "hunkering down at the chuck wagon" requires not only that you wipe your mouth when finished but suggests that a bath would be a pretty good idea?

I thought you were a sensitive liberal NC, but it appears you are just one of the many who would deny DenverChief his right to save a horse, ride a cowboy.

They are saying that this movie will win some Academy Awards. With the subject matter, I'm sure liberal Hollywood with give this movie plenty of awards.

The guy starring it is was really good in Donnie Darko. Jake G. (won't even attempt to spell his last name.)

I think I'll skip this one. A cowboy romance sounds boring as hell, now throw in the fact that it is a guy on guy romance....could it get any worse?

I don't know. All the reviews (not just critic reviews, but "normal" people review) I've read really like it. Like I said, it's based on a story by a great author (lady who wrote The Shipping New), and it's done by a great director (guy who did Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

Hey,

If you want to flip a bar stool upside down, Get a big buttered tub, and go pay $8 to watch Stumpbroke Mountain: A donkey love story. Thats your right.

I'm sure reviews will give that flick 4 thnapth.

The clip shown this morning on the news was more than enough to let me know I'm not seeing it.

Meh, I'm a movie fan; I'll give it a shot. I like Ang Lee's work, sans Hulk, and I've always liked Jake Gyllenhaal. I don't think it'll be a tasteless porn fest. At least for me, I've seen enough guys making out (I'm involved in the theatre - its unavoidable. :( ) that it doesn't wierd me out or anything.

PBS had a documentary about cowboys several years ago, and mentioned that a third of all cowboys were black, a third of all cowboys were Mexican, and a third were gay. I remember this distinctly because they were saying that the group was made equally of black/white/Mexicans, and a third of all of those were gay, but I understood it as being 4 groups, each making up a third and the math didn't add up.

Anyway, all of the rope sucking that went on in the movie Tombstone seemed to back that claim up, and when I was stationed in Cali there were always ad's in the paper for gay rodeo's, (seriously).

I never understood why guys like it when girls kiss each other, because I don't really want to see two hot guys kiss...

Not to get into a big nature/nurture debate, but you gotta wonder how much of teh ghey is occasioned by circumstance, as opposed to predisposition. [Derr, I guess that musing is the sine qua non of a nature/nurture debate].
But stands to reason that when the choices are; the cow, to palm, or the dude in the next rucksack, 1/3 gay isn't unimaginable.

Totally different. A recent study indicates even straight women get turned on by watching two attractive women go at out, where as only gay men like to see two guys go at it.

Interestingly, virtually all women are bi and no guys are. If a guy says he's bi, he's really gay. [He doesn't get turned on by guy - girl porn]
