This is the first I had heard of this, and I live about 20 minutes away from Mainland High School...

It's one thing to perform actions to help others without expectation of reward or acknowledgement, and quite another to help out a school as long as they agree to put a statue of you on the front lawn...

I love how she's all-too-willing to take the lowly athlete's money, but aghast at the idea of a statue in honor of him.

That being said, he is a twat, and rather low on the "statue-worthy people" list.

She didn't solicit his money, he offered it. To insist on a statue of himself borders on the obscene...Not that one of your generation can even understand what I'm talking about...

Nice stereotyping, by the way. Yes, nobody who's would be able to understand that [i]demanding a statue in your honor after a huge donation to a school would be the personification of egotism.

Wait till you've lived a little more than 17 years and maybe moved out of your parent's house before you come to think its impossible to spot trends in societal behavior and attitudes...

Wait till you've lived more than 17 years and maybe moved out of your parent's house before you come to think its impossible to spot trends in societal behavior and attitudes...I love how you've spontaneously shifted from "OMGWHATADICK" mode to full-on "bitter, crotchety geezer" mode.

What inspired this outburst? Did a damn kid run through your lawn and trample your azaleas?

Nice name calling, little girl...I guess when you don't have a logical refutation, it's the next best thing...

Again, I honestly would like to know what inspired this. Bad day? Bad night?

There's a major difference between saying, "Society's different now," and saying, "Not one single individual within an entire generation of people would understand that [insert behavior here] is [insert adjective here]."

Everyone who was born in the '50s or earlier is a prejudiced ****tard. How's that feel?

Yeah, it's hard to get too down on a guy who donates 2.5 million dollars. I mean, he is always hurt, and he is somewhat of a vagina, so pick on him for those traits.

I'm wondering if they'll put Frederic Weis (French player) in the statue as well?

They should have the statue of him dunking over that 7+ footer the French had on that 2000 Olympic team.

Eh, it's just a mama doin what moms do.

If I built a new homeless shelter/abandoned animal adoption center/charitable organization headquarters I could see my parents suggesting that I be immortalized somehow.

So in the end this thread is old people bitching about old people.
