EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants middle linebacker Antonio Pierce has a high ankle sprain and will likely not be available to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.

The Giants updated the condition of Pierce on Tuesday, along with the status of starting tackles Luke Petitgout and Kareem McKenzie and defensive tackle William Joseph. All four were injured Sunday in New York's 26-23 overtime win at Philadelphia.

Head coach Tom Coughlin did not speak to reporters Tuesday even though the Giants had a scheduled practice. Instead, he released a statement that described Pierce's status as week-to-week.

"His availability for this week would be doubtful at best," Coughlin said in the statement.

Petitgout, suffering from back spasms, and McKenzie, sidelined with a strained hamstring, were classified as day-to-day. Petitgout did not discuss his injury with reporters, but McKenzie sounded hopeful about playing against the Chiefs.

"It's day-to-day, so obviously it can't be that bad," he said. "The main thing is not to push too far and set myself back."

Joseph suffered an ankle sprain in his first game back after missing three games with a dislocated elbow. No timetable was given for his return.

I'm almost more concerned about their OTackles.

We need to get some pressure on Eli and stop Tiki.

I'm more concerned about our OT's than theirs.

Roaf will handle anyone; Welbourn on Strahan? GAH.

Welbourn handled Greg Ellis pretty well.

Welbourn handled Greg Ellis pretty well.

I agree with that. Ellis didn't have a SINGLE tackle in that game, let alone a sack. Welbourn has steadily improved as the RT.

welbourn's good if we run, which we should do a lot of.

keep that other offense off the field.

Welbourn handled Greg Ellis pretty well.

I'm glad Michael Strahan is only 172.34 times better than Greg Ellis.

Tell the friggin CB's to concentrate on the pass and not helping with the run defense. Have the LB's maintain strict scheme assignments. We should be okay. Gonna be tough road game.

As long as Black is on the bench we'll be fine.

We NEED this game in a big way. I predicted we would only go 3-1 in this stint, but I thought we would have won the game against the Cowboys, instead of this one. Our backs are against the ropes, it's time to come out swingin'. The draw play may work well this week.

Ellis has 8 sacks this year. He's pretty good.

I'm suprised Washington let Pierce walk in the first place.

I'm reallly interested in seeing how that Umiwhateverhisnameis that plays the other DE does against Roaf... that guy is a beast. Those T-DE matchups are gonna be something to watch in this game.

Roaf's abscense earlier in the season has shown me how valuable he really is. I always knew he was great, but he's become a living legend in my book. The guy is a DOMINATE LT, still after all these years. Considering he's coming off injury and how well he has played, makes me believe he's the best in the game today and maybe of all time.

The backup is Chase Blackburn.

He's a rookie who's played mostly on special teams this year.

They might move Nick Greisen over to middle and use someone else at OLB.
