When trying to make copies of our DVDs for the kids to watch (so our originals don't get all scatched up), I tried doing the backups on my HP laptop. DVD Shrink won't run on it, neither will some of the other DVD copying software I've tried. When trying to get them to run by right clicking and choosing the "run as" option, I get a message that says
Unable to log on:
Logon failure: user account restriction.
I am running windows XP Home with Service Pack 2. How can I disable this or get around it?

either you're not running your computer as an adminstrator or it's the dvd copyright protection that's jacking with ya.

My recomendatition as always is DVD Shrink (http://www.doom9.org/) and Nero Ultra to make easy DVD backups.
But as Laz says, not sure if you are running as Administrator or not.

I am currently the administrator. In fact, that is the only user in the user profile.
And I am trying to use DVD shrink.

OK Computer How sad is it that I'm responding to this simply because I feel that deserves some sort of acknowledgement?

Compliments of C-Mac
ne step burn process. Send me a PM if you have any questions. :thumb:
Download this first and load it on the computer
Then download this file.
Copy it and drop it in the folder...
and when prompted whether or not you want to replace the existing file select yes or accept. Then place a shortcut to the new XPress.exe on your desktop. That's it ! Enjoy !
REMEMBER TO BLOCK ALL ACCESS TO THE INTERNET FOR THIS PROGRAM AND NEVER SELECT THE TAB "CHECK FOR UPDATES" OR IT WILL LINK TO THE 321 HOME PAGE WHICH WILL ADD INFO TO YOUR REGISTRY MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO USE ANY VERSION OF THEIR PROGRAM AGAIN UNLESS YOU DELETE CERTAIN REGISTRY KEYS.
If you have a DVD player and a DVD burner its an even better one step process. Most movies for me take about 20-30 minutes, but some of the dual layers are longer. Also a important tip, always start your movie in your player first, then open DVDXcopy, go thru the steps and close the player. It is a way to bypass any code issues. Enjoy!

It's not sad at all.
Quite simply one of the best bands of this generation.
I'm listening to "Kid A" right now.
