Not that he'll be active this week. I think they did this to ensure his presence next year on the active duty roster:

CHIEFS AGREE TO TERMS WITH WR CRAPHONSO THORPE, PLACE TE KRIS WILSON ON INJURED RESERVE
Dec 30, 2005, 10:33:58 AM

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Friday that the club has agreed to the terms of a three-year deal with WR Craphonso Thorpe and has placed TE Kris Wilson on the Reserve/Injured List. As per Chiefs policy no other terms of the agreement were made available.

Thorpe (6-0, 187) joined the Chiefs as a fourth-round pick (116th overall) in the 2005 NFL Draft and spent the first 15 weeks of the season on the club’s practice squad. Thorpe played in 48 games (21 starts) at Florida State, catching 123 passes for 2,153 yards (17.5 avg.) with 18 touchdowns. He added six carries for 13 yards (2.2 avg.) and 39 kickoff returns for 845 yards (21.7 avg.). He started a personal-best 11 contests his junior season, recording a career-high 51 receptions for 994 yards (19.5 avg.) with 11 touchdowns. The two-sport athlete also lettered twice in track, winning the 100-meter and 200-meter races to earn All-ACC honors as a junior.

The Tallahassee, Florida native competed in both football and track at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee. Thorpe was a second-team All-USA selection by USA Today as a senior when he caught 64 passes for 1,025 yards (16.0 avg.) with eight TDs.

Wilson (6-2, 251) appeared in 14 games (one start) this season catching three passes for 33 yards and recording one carry for six yards. The second-year pro joined the Chiefs as the second of the club’s two second-round draft picks (61st overall) in 2004, but a broken leg limited him to duty in just three games as a rookie.

Wilson played in 48 games (43 starts) at the University of Pittsburgh, catching 88 passes for 1,431 yards (17.9 avg.) with 15 TDs. He was a second-team All-Big East selection as a senior after starting 13 contests and recording a career-high 44 receptions for 643 yards (17.9 avg.) with nine TDs. Wilson enjoyed a pair of 100-yard receiving games as a senior, producing an 110-yard effort vs. Rutgers and an 111-yard outing vs. Virginia.

Wilson prepped at J.P. McCaskey High School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he posted 36 receptions for 936 yards and 10 TDs as a senior wide receiver. In addition, he racked up 111 tackles, 7.0 sacks, three INTs and two fumble recoveries as a linebacker during his final high school season.

That's good news that the Chiefs see enough in Thorpe to give him an audition in the big show.

I think we are trying to hold onto him with the fact that both Horn and Boe are FA's next year.

Plus, who would be expecting to have Crap thrown at them. I have to think that would be a bit distracting.

You didn't hear this from me, but my sources say Wilson is being kept in a hangar at Area 51.

I guess now that the Bengals have spent all week game planning for him, it's too late for them to revise the whole thing around Craphonso Thorpe

Evidently King Carl thought he was going to get snapped off the PS or he doesn't make the move. King Carl also has to think that Thorpe must have some talent to give him some coin right now.

That certainly explains it....Man that Wilson guy has to be tough to have sacrificed his body for those three catches all in the vein of being a team first guy.

The last Horn we let get away turned out to be pretty good. Bo can hit the road.

I'l take a chance that Chris Horn isn't the next Joe Horn.

But I do hear a night with Willies wife could make a world of difference. hmm

This is a brilliant move by the Chiefs. Kris Wilson is known as the "secret weapon" by so many teams, yet he's been in hiding all this time. Teams gameplan for him, but the secret weapon never shows up. Now that he's out, teams will be more relaxed and that's when we hit'em with the REAL secret weapon: Crap.

Genious! Carl picks a looser like Wilson to be the red herring secret weapon! It's a bulletproof plan!
