Those who have read my recent stuff know about both my son and my father in law's issues.

Well, on the 29th, the doctors found that my father in law was not improving but getting worse. They all believed that the Trachyotomy (sp), even if we had decided to do it (which would be agains my father in laws wishes), would do absolutely no good.

For those who are not aware, my father in law suffered from COPD and Emphasyma (sp).

So yesterday (12/30/05), they removed his breathing tube and put him on Morphine. It took 3 hours after they removed the breathing tube before he stopped breathing completely, and then another 15 minutes before his heart stopped. He passed away at 4:15 in the afternoon.

He was 53.

Real sorry to hear that. I lost my father in law Dec 1st in Topeka from a stroke.
It'll be really hard time for your wife for awhile, give her a lot of love and support the next few weeks. All the best for your family.
