Don't know if I still feel that way, though. He's done exactly NOTHING in Houston.

I overheard a couple of Chiefs employees tonight at dinner & they said the latest rumor is that Saunders gets hired as Head Coach & that Mike Martz takes over the offense. Gunther will be rehired by Saunders, but that Dom Capers will probably be interviewed for the DC position.

Cochise's fantasy offseason:

1. Promote Al Saunders
2. Purge the defensive staff and bring in Capers for D.C. with assistant coaches of his choosing
3. Flush out dead weight on the roster (Woods, Wesley, etc.)
4. Move Bell to ILB (assuming a 3-4 scheme comes with Capers)
5. Free agent priority to DE, CB, FS
6. Draft priority - a huge defensive tackle, wide receiver, player-of-the-future projects at QB and on the offensive line
7. Drop the price of the super nachos to $.25

After the job he has done with our offense, he is deserving I think, though many would disagree.

I like the idea of Capers as defensive coordinator if his system comes in, the only thing that worries me is that I don't think Jared Allen's size would translate well to the scheme and we don't have the calliber of nose tackle you need for it either.

I think you could make a fine coaching staff out of the group that was fired:

HC: Mariuchi
OC: Martz (or Saunders if he'll stay w/o the HC job)
DC: Capers

Move Goonther to LB coach and you're in business.

Mariucci would clash with those coordinators..........he's a West coast offense guy. Saunders and Martz are Coryell guys, I doubt Mariucci would ever hire an OC who does that kind of offense.

Hell, I didn't sit down and contemplate if the smell of their farts would clash, I was merely pointing out there was a fine head coach and two good coordinators. Whether or not they'd make a good staff is another question all together.
