WOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :p
Big improvement on D! Up 7 slots!!!!
Seriously, this D is getting better. Either that or the teams ranked 26-32 are REAL BAD.

1st in offense and nothing to show. Terrible!

**** yards.

Points, we're middle of the pack defensively.

15th overall defense is mediocre, but 25th is discustingly horrible.

Correct.

15th was supposed to be good enough for KC, given the offense. People forget that.

Clearly, it wasn't good enough, considering the offense was once again dominant.

Makes you wonder what our fortunes might have been with the #1 D and the #25 O. Hmmmmmm.

Or (imagine this) balance.

Well, we have gotten better every year since Gun arrived. The problem is it isn't fast enough for most people.

And it probably won't be fast enough for guys like Shields and Roaf...

That's why i think a one year extension for DV made sense. Too late now. Shields, Roaf, Richardson, Kennison, and Green won't last forever. But with LJ they can go at least one more year. I like what Derrick Johnson brings to this D. This D has afuture, i just hope they keep the staff they have and not gut it all.

Keep the offensive staff, and completely dump the defensive coaching staff.

The offense had leaps and bounds of success with the offensive change. Unlike the defense which has stayed at the lower tier of the NFL in overall defense.

Gun says it takes most LB's 3 years to understand his scheme, I would say it will take around 3 years for the whole team D to come together too.

I don't understand it. With our offense, a middle of the pack D was supposed to get us to the SB. We had the #1 offense yet again, and a middle of the pack D(scoring is what counts, not yards). And we fail to make the playoffs? :banghead:

It should read 6th in offense and 16th in defense.

The 'D' is getting better and next year it won't be by just 7 slots. I think these improvements, when started, pick up speed fast. I'll stick my neck out and predict that if Al Saunders is hired as HC and Gun is given better coaches and a few more players, this 'D' will be around #15 or better next year. With our 'O' intact and Al tying up the lose ends in the discipline department happy days will be here again.

I think the improvement was more than just going from 32 up 7 slots. The D was so bad with GR it was worse than 32 by a long shot. I honestly believe it was one of the worst defenses of all time. Didn't they set an NFL record for most yards given up per carry?

I think they were on the cusp of being all-time worst defense but were saved (total yards allowed). That is bad if you have a lousy offense; it is downright mystifying when you have the NFL's most potent offense.

D was #28 in yards per play. They weren't nearly as many plays run against them as other teams because of our #1 offense.

Chiefs gave up 20.3 ppg this year, 16th in the NFL.

In 2004 we gave up 27.2 ppg, 29th in the NFL.

I think a touchdown difference over the course of one season is pretty good.

Yeah. With an average offense, I think Robinson's D would have been the first team in league history to yield 1,000 points.

There were times when I swear I saw Chiefs defenders pulling the running backs forward.

the problem other than us losing to phi, dal and buf, was how good the afc is. 10 wins should get you to the playofffs prob 8 out of 10 years. i think we need a coach with more balance in his philosophy. i'm all for a coach o\loving his players, but there was too much love coming from dick, and not enough disipline.

ROFL We were #42 in a 32 team league. You know your assessment is probably true. I hadn't thought of that. Rep.

Wasn't that the year we had a shut out? Like 49-0 or something over the Lambs? And another game where KC allowed only single digits? And STILL ended up being a near all-time worst _efense?

In 2002, they beat the Cardinals by a score something like that. Obviously, Greg Robinson still hadn't completely installed his system at that point.

It looks like he's ahead of schedule at Syracuse. It only took him two games to install his system.

ROFL Just like Gun's improvement of the offense is a work in progress, GRob's ruination of it was a work in progress.

We have finished #1 in either scoring or yardage offense now for 4 straight years.

That is a really, really impressive feat. I'm not sure how many teams have pulled that off, but not many. Coryell's offenses never did that, neither did any of Bill Walsh's, Gibb's, Martz, etc.

Seifert's mid-90's Niner teams with Young/Watters/Rice are the only other team to accomplish that I think...

On the road the defense played like a JV high school team
