EDWARDS NEW COLOR IS RED
Source Confirms: Chiefs Will Name Edwards New Coach Friday

Herman Edwards is out in New York. The Chiefs will announce Edwards as their new head coach this Friday at a press conference in Kansas City. The Jets will also also hold a press conference later this week and all indications at this juncture are that general manager Terry Bradway will continue to hold his position. The Jets are expected to name offensive coordinator Mike Hemierdinger to the position of head coach while Jets defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson will follow Edwards to K.C. Here is the link

ROFL I was waiting for someone to post this. This has been up for a while, I ALMOST posted a thread warning about this so somebody didn't post it.... probably should have.

The Gang Green website has had it up for a while now, people are going nuts over there trying to get confirmation... but there has been no confirmation from any NY media, and John Clayton said not but a half hour ago he didn't think the Chiefs would make the trade because the Jets asking price will be too high.

If this guy is accurate, he has scooped a lot of people....

It would take a near-act-of-God (or at least a supermajority of the owners) to get the Jets to the playoffs in the NFC.

that doesnt make any sense either..... who are we losing next year???

Shields
Barber
Woods
Holmes
McCleon
Washigton
Stills

Holmes has been replaced.... now we just need a # 2 back

Shields will never be replaced but we have a lot of options for that position... Welbourne at guard and Sampson,Black and Williams at RT

The rest of the peeps gone didn't do anything this year anyway.... Free Agency and the rest of our draft picks will be fine...

Hopefully it is 3rd and 4th round

Al Saunders was given a new contract a few years ago naming him as an assistant head coach. What that means is he is making more money than is allowed for coodinators. I wonder if that will come into play somehow in hiring a new Head Coach.

I agree. The fact that Carl thinks he can only work well with his friends is not a good thing, IMO.

DV proffessing his belief that Al should be the next head coach may have ruined any chance of Al being the head coach. Carl is egotistical like that. "I will hire whoever I want."

Herm Close To Jetting To KC
By Jets Insider.com Staff

mail@jetsinsider.com

January 4th, 2006

Unhappy Herm may be wearing red very soon. (Jets Insider.com Photo)
Various sources are confirming that Jets Head Coach Herman Edwards is close to leaving the team to become the new Head Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Reportedly the only thing holding up the deal is compensation to the Jets in the form of Chiefs draft picks. It's possible that the deal could be completed by late tonight or early tomorrow. The Jets have a press conference scheduled tomorrow at 11AM that was previously scheduled to address the state of the team but it could turn out to be an annoucement that Edwards is moving on. Edwards is reportedly the first choice of retiring Chiefs Head Coach Dick Vermeil to succeed him.

Edwards has denied that he is leaving the Jets but has leaked to several members of the media that he is looking for a contract extension and a raise. He currently has 2 years left on his current deal and is being paid on the lower scale of NFL Head Coaches.

If Edwards does leave, the first two obvious choices to replace him would be either current offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger or defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson. Heimerdinger has more experience but Henderson has shown a lot of potential. In fact, the Jets just gave New Orleans permission to talk to Henderson about their vacant head coaching position. The team would also likely look out of house for candidates as well.

Check back to Jets Insider.com often for updates on this developing story.

Well that should sway a few over to the pro-Herm camp

The fact that she doesn't have a freakin' clue about anything means that no one will give a rat's ass about what she thinks, and won't sway any opinions.

nah, he'll probably transfer us to the cfl...

but that might be good since our defense might be able to do better against cfl teams...

At least we wouldn't have to worry about them calapsing on 3rd down...

Wed, 4 Jan 2006 17:46:37 -0800

Pat Harty, of the Iowa City Press-Citizen, reports University of Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz is expected to withdraw his name from head coaching consideration within the next day or two, according to ESPN's John Clayton. Clayton believes the Houston Texans have the best chance of landing Ferentz and there is speculation he will interview with them early next week.

so who will be calling the plays on O? Man, not having AS is going to be interesting. Sounds like no Gun either. Wow! Will we keep Solari? Thank God Vermiel left a decent team behind b/c 2006 would have become a big mess if he hadn't. Even with the complete change in coaching staff Chiefs can still be competitive next season! Thanks DICK, AL, and GUN!!

I hope we can at least retain Solari.
