...and what will that do to our salary cap if Holmes is done?

I think it will determine on how much the O-line stays intact and who's callling the shots on O.

I don't think it matters to Priest who the starter is. He will get paid the same if he is the starter or situational back. I would think at this point he understands his body can't take the punishment anymore and would welcome this. Of course I am not sure he will risk further injury to his spine.

Personally I hope he retires or takes a huge paycut and if he retires we need to use a few of those dollars to sign a above average #2 back.

Priest would be a wonderful #2 back to have if he is 100%. A big if....

I only can say I hope not. He would be excellent to use in change up situations where we don't want to tip whether we will be running or passing and don't want to use a play action play. Also inside the 5. LJ also needs to realize that he needs to have his average carries closer to 25 than to 35 to have a long career.

I'd rather see Holms walk away from the game then injure his spine any further and have to wheel away.

So you don't want Priest as number two?

At what he's set to make next year.........NO.

No!!!!!!!

Priest must return as a backup for ONE season.

Just like what he did in Baltimore. After a 1,000 yd season and mentoring a then rookie named Jamal Lewis only to see Lewis took over the starting RB position and went ahead to win their first SB!

KC better fix and improved our defense 300% in 2006. With a killa defense and pounding the rock with LJ + Priest = Superbowl baby!

And if none of you have notice our 2006 schedule...it looks very promising for a 12-4 record.

You don't pay a #2 back the amount of cash we are giving him.

I hope he retires.

I hope he retires.True his annual salaries would have to be restructured to befit a #2 back, however he has his bonus money already so I have some hope a deal can be struck.

With Priest????

Yeah, right.

Last year, he said he WOULDN'T restructure to help the team if need be in an interview on Sirius.

I just want him gone and let LJ have the reigns. With Priest here, there's no way it would be fully LJ's throne.

I loved Priest. I just don't think he's a team-first guy.

no if he wants to play he would have to take a huge paycut you can't pay your backup RB that much money.

I hate to say it, but Priest Holmes IS a mercenary. He doesnt play for love of the game, or for his teammates. He plays to get paid, and thats it.

I love Priest and what he's done, but if he refuses to help the team then he needs to retire. Johnson has now proven that the starting job should be his, breaking Holmes' own single season rushing mark in 6 less games.

Its time for Priest to face the fact that he hasnt finished 3 of his 5 seasons here, and that Johnson is doing some things better than Priest ever did when he was starting.

If he cant come to terms with that, then he needs to go. There's no way a #2 back should be making as much as he is, while L.J. doesnt even make a million on the year.
