I remember watching that game. It was ugly in all aspects of the game for Kentucky.

You were brave to watch........It was on tape delay as Kentucky played no live tv games that year.

I think Kentucky was on probation during those years? I know KU was still on probation for improper recruting.

I looked it up, and Kentucky was in probation in 1989 for several major infractions, and one of the penalties was no TV for one year.

That part about Roy Williams offering to call a timeout because UK was out of timeouts and Pitino's reply was hilarious. ROFL

Yes UK was on probation from 89-91 and you want to win a trivia contest the only coach fired by Kentucky in the last 75 years was Adolph Rupp. Eddie Sutton resigned in March of 89 beating UK to the punch.

KU almost needs to win by that margin again this year. Their RPI is around 140.

I don't think Strength of Victory is incorporated in to RPI.

I was mad but given Kentucky's lack of talent on that team most Kentucky fans realized that there would be some tough blowouts. What's funny is that team (tallest player was 6-7 200lb Reggie Hanson......current UK assitant) beat LSU which 3 NBA players in Shaq, Stanley Roberts and Chris Jackson. In fact Shaq was fouled out with 5 minutes to go in the game. A lot of Pitino's passion in that game was meant to show the team that it had to have a attitude. After probation fell in 89 Kentucky's roster was barren and most of the players left had to be lifted up with their low self esteem. The core of that team was four sophmores in Deron Feldhaus, Sean Woods, Richie Farmer and John Phelprey. They took many hits and painful losses but went out with their heads held high in the greatest game in all of College Basketball......yes that !@#!@#!@# Lattener game.
