Chiefs | May hire Henderson
Thu, 19 Jan 2006 20:08:42 -0800

Adam Teicher, of the Kanas City Star, reports former New York Jets defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson probably will be the secondary coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, if he doesn't receive an offer as a coordinator or head coach elsewh

I don't think he will land a head coaching job, but, he will imo be a strong candidate to be defensive co-ordinator.

Question is, how many teams out there need a defensive co-ordinator? I hope not too many.

The right thing, imo, smart thing for the Chiefs to do is recruit him in here as a DB coach, and give him the title as a assistant head coach of the defense.

Henderson is too good to pass up on.

Already going in the right direction I see. Hendersons way better than our old secondary coach who taught our dbacks how to play defense with their backs to the play.

Now what would really make me happy would be for Bartee, Woods, McCleon, and Hicks to be gone.

Jets | Henderson will not be retained
Thu, 19 Jan 2006 11:34:25 -0800

Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New York Jets defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson will not be retained by the team. Henderson had two years remaining on a three-year extension he signed last year.

*Not sure how to interpret this? Maybe they just bought the rest of his contract and decided to released him?

They are. kcchiefs.com are terrible when it comes to updatings, especially the people who are gone.

Likely depends on how they handle updates to webpages.

Do they outsource it? Give them updates as needed.
Cost to apply updates ?

Henderson as our DB coach, awesome. I hope he doesnt clash with Gunther though. That could be a problem.

Exactly what is KFFL reporting?

Is there anyone that didn't know that Hermie might try to hire Henderson as DB if he doesn't get a DC gig somewhere?

Jury is out-----Herm Edwards - Head Coach
Jury is out-----Mike Solari - Offensive Coordinator
Yuck, not good-Dick Curl - Assistant to the Head Coach/Offense
good----------Charlie Joiner - Wide Receivers
good----------James Saxon - Running Backs
OK------------Terry Shea - Quarterbacks
Horrible------Gunther Cunningham - Defensive Coordinator
Very good----Tim Krumrie - Defensive Line
Not sure------Fred Pagac - Linebackers
Are you sure?--Bob Karmelowicz - Defensive Line
Are you sure?---Darvin Wallis - Defensive Assistant/Quality Control
Are you sure? --Carl Hairston - Defensive Line
Are you sure?--Jeff Hurd - Strength and Conditioning
Are you sure?--Billy Long - Assistant Strength and Conditioning

On all the ones where I say are you sure, I don't think an announcement has been made either way on keeping them or letting them go. I am pretty sure we won't keep 3 defensive line coaches and we just hired Krumrie so I would imagine Karmelowicz and Hairston will be let go.

I hope they make him co-defensive coordinator and Assitant Head Coach and he overides all Guns nonsense. In an ideal world it pisses Gun off and Gun quits.

I'm pretty sure he lives in my neighborhood. From all I've heard, he's a hell of a guy. And if I'm thinking of the right guy, he has the same body as the wife of Dog the Bounty Hunter. I would, of course, never tell him that to his face.
