View Full Version : We all owe the Broncos a thank you

By lucking into a win over the Pats, they saved the Steelers from having to go play at New England... which, unlike playing in Denver, actually would have presented a challenge for Pittsburgh. The Pats might even have won that game, and then we'd have to listen to the endless Pats, Brady, Belichick love-fest for another Super Bowl. Ugh.

So thank you, Denver Broncos, for those flukes and questionable referee calls that helped you win last week. Thank you, Jake Plummer, for waiting until it counted the most before turning back into the chump everyone knows you are. And, most of all, thanks for bending over and spreading your cheeks when the Steelers came into town.

And a special thanks for being at home for this one, since it was even better than watching you get killed at Indy again.

Nah, I'll thank the Pats for tanking it.

I wouldn't have said this after the game last week, but it looks like just that...the Broncos were a fluke. I wish we could luck into victories that easy...

Denver had some huge flaws:

1. Their QB is average at best.

2. Their pass defense, other than opportunistic ball-hawking skills (which was very good) flat out sucked.

The Patriots, unfortunately, failed to take advantage of either of these flaws, and instead pissed away any chance they had to win by making critical errors. To some degree that is a credit to Denver's defense, but to some degree it's also the Patriots' own failures (fumble forced by the punter, and unforced fumble on fair catch punt return).

Ultimately, this Denver team is quite good, but not great by any stretch.

I'm just sorry my team had to end their streak of "no playoff wins without Elway" :banghead:
