Kobe's coach is smart enough to know that the other 4 on the floor with him - especially last night - know that he's the only one that can consistently score.

You want to flame a guy who scored 81 and single handedly brought a team back that was down double digits in the 3rd quarter?

You obviously haven't been watching at all this season. Sometimes he has really tried to get others involved but when they keep missing he takes over. When the 4th quarter comes and the game is in question he takes over so they get the W. When they get ahead Phil has been pulling Kobe all the time to try and get the rest of the team to quit counting on him so much. Lamar continues to improve and his on the court chemistry with Kobe is getting better all the time. He wasn't scoring at all to start the season but has pulled his PPG up to 15 in spite of that. Smush Parker has also started slow but is scoring more now as well. They ARE becoming more of a team and we ARE seeing them win more games because of it. In picking Bynum they were basically writing off the near term for the future. With all that said they are still only 4.5 back from winning the division outright.

BTW the comment about what you would do if you were the coach over what Phil Jackson has done isn't arrogant it's just stupid. The rise of the Lakers is on it's way AGAIN like it or not and your going to be seeing a whole lot more of Kobe Bryant.

The negative comments from all the Kobe haters in here are too ****ing funny. ROFL The man scores the 2nd most points in the history of the game and blows out a team but people can find something negative in that. Look at the film clip on NBA.com it's freaking amazing. You have an entire team trying to stop him but they can't. How many times do you get a chance to see that? Driving the lane, pullups and 3 pointers the complete package. Still we get ridiculous comments about rings like he doesn't have them already or hear how Phil should bench the most talented player in the game. I haven't seen this many ridiclous comments since rape allegations. The guy could win 3 more rings and you haters will still find some negative shit to post and fail to acknowlege anything he has done. Kobe has issues we all know that. Kobe has certainly needed to grow up at times but give me a break these posts just make you guys look silly.

Kobe has 3 rings. He didn't get them by being a ballhog his entire career.

Ok look at it this way. Kobe is makin all the shots now, his players arent gettin any shots at all, and when he gets a double team put on him, who's goin to make the shot for the lakers.

Kobe is the main guy that runs that team now compared to Shaq bein the one that ran it before he left.

On the rise. Lol. You need to get your players more involved before this team can be considered on the rise.

If Kobe didn't already have 3 rings prior to this, Kobe with Jackson now is the same as Jordan was to Jackson.....Someone to build around. It took Jackson some time to do so, will Jackson stick around long enough to see this one through ?

If he wants to beat Red out of those # of chapionships, he will. I say at least 2 more years after this one. Can Phil do it ? Maybe.

WOW  Just WOW .....

# 1 ... I do not believe there needs to be " PAYBACK " in sports, period.

# 2 ... I do not think it is right to have pitchers throwing at batters, never have, never will..... see rule # 1.

# 3 .... III and I don't always see eye to eye... Ref : Thread, " I wish DJ would lay my Dad out." True, he does look up to me from time to time and at times, something I say rings a bell inside of his head, but tthose are rare.

Now for the rest, Yes, Kobe was soft when came up, the NBA is a big boy league, it is tougher, rougher and faster than college ball is. It is more flamboyant and the fans love it, kids see it and the game is ever changing because of it.

With kids seeing it, is it right to teach them to play that way, to purposely cause physical injury to another player ?

Sorry, I don't see the good in this.

Money plays a big part in these players lives and they act like inmature kids on and off the court.

Next time, remember, I'm old school when it comes to sports, play fair and let the talent win the game.

The real question is how many times has Kobe been to the playoffs without shaq.

And the answer is zero. Kobe might be the most difficult player in the league to stop, but if he has these games all season, it will wear him down too much. They fade down the stretch cause Kobe has to (or forces himself) to carry them.
Kobe might compete for that scoring crown every year, but unless he figures out how to raise the level of play of his teammates, thats as much as he will compete for.

The real question is how many times has Kobe been to the playoffs without shaq.

Where do these people come from Tardville? Kobe has only completed one single season whithout Shaq being on the team. how can you even say something like that?

It is the NBA after all.

Dickwad, that red-headed white boy (Matt Bonner, who is a lights out shooter) was the best player on a University of Florida team a few years back. A florida team that was in the NCAA, a league that for some reason people like more than the NBA.

Look who kobe has on his team NO ONe on that team is a half decent scorer What he to do? really? least before he coudl pass to shaq. Lamar Odom is SOO inconsistant itsn ot even funny. PHil doesnt even trust him. Smoosh parker? please, he is a decent player, but he isnt consistant either? Deavan George? CHris Mihm? Kwame Brown? who does he have that he can pass too and have Faith in? NO ONE!

MJ has Pippen, Paxon, Harper, THey were all solid players that can hit the open jumper. On the Lakers there is NONE of that.

So before people call anyone a ball hawg, they need to know what the **** they are talking about.

A Talented player........ but a stupid brain. IMHO, Intentional fouls to infict injury are reason to be banned from the NBA for a year .
That's fine..I was talking about people talking shit about how he was a ball hog this game and stuff like that, when his teammates were obviously wanting him to get 80+ points. BTW though, that one reason isn't a great reason to not like a player. Other guys do it all the time..He probably did the same thing to Kobe that game and he retaliated, though I don't know for sure...

Damn, I would love to see that game to watch Kobe put on that sterling individual effort. Yes, Kobe is not a very likable guy because of his past legal problems(some of which is legit) and the infamous elbow recently, which is not really nice but those things do happen in sports unfortunately, paybacks and stuff. Is Kobe a ballhog? Yes. However if you are as on as he was last night you keep shooting, especially them being down as well. Sorry, basketball is a team sport, but sometimes in the confines of teamwork there maybe is one scorer, it happens. Until the Lakers upgrade their team beyond Odom and others, he may have to do this again.

There wasn't much difference other than the fact that the Bulls were a little older that year and won 62 games instead of 69. They were forced to a game 7 against Indiana while Utah had a week off before the finals. Nobody outside the state of Utah considered the Jazz the favorites over the Bulls that season.

So?

So the guy took off nearly 2 years and joined the team at the end of the season. Even Anderson said I might steal that from 45 but not from 23. Nobody takes off 2 years and come back to be where he eventually got to again that quickly.

we drafted Michael...we didn't trade Vlade Divac for him

well I'm sure that had something to do with the following season when they won 72 games...

fiercest competitor ever

Kobe is more like Harold Miner than Michael Jordan

He's been painted as a player that never had a bad game, never had a bad performance in the playoffs by Hootie.

He's human. He's done some stupid things on the court. I don't care that he's had 2 turnovers in the playoffs. However, when Kobe Bryant does stupid things on the court, Hootie makes the claim that he's closer to Harold Miner.

And let me know why it's not equally as dumb for Portland to basically allow Jordan to fall into your laps when Jordan was considered the far superior player coming out?

Vlade Divac in the 3 years prior to getting dealt put up:

14.2/10.8/3.9
16/10.4/4.1
12.9/8.6/3

Vlade was a very good big man at the time. The myth that he was a freaking scrub is hilarious.

Kobe is a great player...

but I remember when they were calling Harold Miner "baby Jordan"...that didn't pan out

Obviously Kobe is a great, great, great hall of fame player...

but in comparison to Michael...

he's closer to Harold Miner caliber than Michael Jordan caliber...

no one comes CLOSE to MJ

no one

so when I see these bullshit articles by that dumb cunt Jemele Hill telling us how Kobe is the best player of all time...it just makes me sick

I never said Vlade was a scrub...

ever

great deal by the Lakers

and Vlade was a big part of some amazing Kings teams...teams that got totally robbed by officiating in the playoffs a few times

coming from the guy who thinks Bill Russell is better than MJ even though Bill Russell never had to be "the man" when it came down to crunch time...that coming from Bill Simmons...

we get it

you're old

but just because you were alive to see it doesn't mean you can discredit everything that has happened in the last 20 years

I promise you Peyton Manning is 100,000 times more talented than Johnny Unitas...

is that the same Joe Montana who was winning Super Bowls before the salary cap era when the NFL was more like the MLB?

I bet Joe Montana wouldn't win 4 Super Bowls in today's NFL

The NFL, even before parody, wasn't dominated by two teams over the decades like the NBA.

Montana would have won more SBs with this Colts team than Manning has.

But that's irrelevant to the discussion.

The discussion is your absolute stupidity.
