Sprint. While Ive never had a bad experience with them--with the exception of actually visiting one of the 'stores' to upgrade a 5 year old phone. I'll never go into one of those stores again.

That said, I firmly believe that all cell companies suck and their level of suckage depends upon whether or not you're using that company for your cell service.

I had Sprint and I would NEVER go back to them. The screwed up my bill, the customer service was a joke, and my signal would fade for no apparent reason.

I have Verizon now, and was able to catch a signal as far as BC Canada. Hell Sprint would lose calls right next to their POS towers.

Yes they do

the Message I usally get is like "PLEASE HOLD WHILE THE NEXTEL SUBSCRIBER YOU ARE TRYING REACH IS LOCATED"

and then it sends to the Voice Mail

That usally means that the Person you are tying to call is either In a Direct Connect Session or on the net or Sending a txt message or something

I remember hearing something about certain networks dropping active calls for new calls because customers get less pissed about dropped calls as opposed to a "network busy" recording. Now that's service!

Never been happier in all my life.

I'd use two cans and a string before I'd go back to Verizon. Worst customer service I've ever experienced, and considering the shit I've been going through with the more-incompetent-by-the-day douches at DirecTV, believe me, that's saying something.

Basically, they ALL suck. Some are better in certain areas than others. Verizon isn't worth a crap where I live, Sprint's just okay, and I've heard excellent things about Cingular. But if I travel 20 miles, that all might switch. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters to any of these companies is separating us from our money and giving us the absolute minimum in return.

Aren't Nextel and Sprint the same thing?

They are Now Techincally the same company.

The Technology they use are completly Different

Sprint runs a 1900Mhz CDMA Service- Because of the High Mhz that is why you get such Spotty Reception.

Nextel uses an 800mhz "NEXTEL" (iDEN) Network, and that is why their Walkie Talkie can never be done better by anyone else.

I would reccomend Nextel to anyone.

The bonus about the Sprint/Nextel Merger is that you can now get Sprint Calling Plans with Nextel and those tend to be a bit more bang for your buck

Nextel /Sprint now have the FREE INCOMING Calls thats what sealed the deal for me Plus the Free "Direct Connect"(Walkie Talkie)

Cingular

and I have an LG camera phone. Great phone, and the service is fine except I found out they charge $36.00 for a late fee! There's no minimum balance due, so you have to pay the full amount or they shut you off after 30 days. I discovered this during XMAS vacation when I wanted to save $ for all the traveling and presents and other expenses.

I was shocked when I discovered it was $36.00 to turn the phone back on! I had them reverse the fee and gave them the third degree about how ridiculous it is to charge so much for something so simple for them to do. I work for the cable company, and I know that our fees to turn the service back on is $25.00- and that includes having to send a tech out to the tap. I then gave the bank as an example and told the CSR that if I had written a bad check, it would only have cost me $25-30.00. There's a lot of paperwork involved to get the money back, so I can understand the charges. But, $36.00 *****ing dollars to turn the phone on when I just paid him the full amount over the phone. Whatever. The CSR reversed it, but I'll be sure never to be late on my damn phone bill again.

One company - many different products and services. They are trying to merge the best benefits of both networks and products so they can offer more to the consumer.

I had Sprint for 5+ years and never had a problem with them.

I switched to Cingular about 2 months ago, just because my contract was up and they had the best package of goodies for people signing up for new contracts in that store on the day I went in to get it done. No problems with Cingular so far.

I don't think there is a nickel's difference between cellphone companies, it just depends on how belligerent of a customer each person is and where they are using the phone, if you live someplace reasonable near civilization... all networks have a few weaker spots and all phones are going to drop a call once in a while. Just the nature of the technology.

Alright Cell Phone Users... I posted this in the Geeks Forum but I dont think it got the Attention it deserves...

if you have a Java Phone Download and Install OPERA MINI.. Its a application that allows you to browse HTML websites on your phone... Not WAP sites but HTML sites...

Most Users can use their current phone browser and go to mini.opera.com

From there most users can dowload the Free Program.

For users that Know they have a JAVA phone but its not Listed Go to GENERIC and pick the Choice that seems right.. If In Doubt go with the Low Memory Version.

If that still wont work on your phone you will have to use a computer cable (USB or Serial (rs232) ) to Xfer the Files to your phone..

NEXTEL USERS MUST USE WEBJAL to LOAD THE PROGRAM!

I think alot of folks would really like this and the way it works is that the Opera Mini Apps connects to the Opera Mini Servers.. the Opra Mini Servers Get the Page you want... Shrink it in size and then send it to your phone so instead of a Page loading thats 300k its only about 30k.

Check it out

here is a Demo of
http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/operamini/demo.dml

Try It.... NOW!

From what I read, the minutes you purchase expire in 30 days if you don't use them too. That's crap.

I used to have a Tracfone. Yeah, your service will expire if you don't purchase more minutes in that time period (I think the minimum may be 60 days now). However, the only thing that happens is that you lose that particular phone number. An example would be that you have 20 minutes left on a phone when the time period expires. A week later, you put more minutes - let's say a 40 minute card - on the phone. Now you have 60 minutes on your phone but a new phone number. And it expires in either 30 or 60 days.

Lzen
04-25-2006, 08:53 AM
Another thing to note about Tracfone - the cards are in units, not necessarily minutes. When I had one, you would get 1 minute per unit in local area and 1 minute per 2 units in roaming. However, I haven't been on a Tracfone in about 3 years so, my info may be outdated.

Yep; it can still be a bit of a pain though. On the upside it is a good thing to give teen age kid in order to limit his cell phone use and a give him a source of emergency communication.

Ok..

My Bill just came ount July 9th...

I called up July 11th.. Switched to the Fair and Flexable For Familys Plan..... The lady said she would make some adjustments to my account for going over the previous month...

since i have been shopping for a mortgage this week i have almost used all the min. on my previous plan that we are stuck with til the new billing cycle. So i called up and added 300 more Min. to my account for $25.

Now On July 13 ALL the credits show up online the balance is lower but it says im 12 days past due.

I call up and the CSR rep. looks at it and says yes your past due but i dont know why..

he says it all looks funny. he started adding credits left and right... 15 here 40 there 1 here another 5 there.....etc.

it seemed like just for the fun of it he wanted to add money to my account.

my bill is 60% less than what it was when the bill came out on 7/9......

Just for a few Min. on the free call to 611

anyone else get crazy credits?
