View Full Version : Should the NFL get younger officials?

What is the average age of an NFL referee? Would a 30 year old's jugdement be an improvement over a 55 year olds? Vision and reaction usually deteriorates with age. Also, alot of these officials have other professions. Maybe if the refs sat and watched game film through the week, it might help with any future mistakes.

Sorry if I offended any old folks around here, Skip... :p

How about officials that don't fix games?

Yes, the problem is the refs can't see what happened (esp. on fumbles) because they are either still running to the spot where the incident occured or they are standing too far away because they want to avoid contact.

yep

On top of that, I think HCs should be able to challenge penalties.

If you think the games are long now, just wait until you get a coach challenging every penalty. There are certain penalties that should be challengable, like pass interference. Other than that, it would be a waste.

Not necessarily. I do not advocate giving coaches additional challenges - the number of challenges available does not change, just the scope of what can be challenged ;)

No. Older officials are much wiser. The older the better.

I love seeing some geezer get rocked by a 275 linebacker than runs a 4.5 40

TV time outs suck. Tapioca and Ensure time outs would take forever.

I don't care about younger officials.

Better would suffice.

I went to lunch and picked up a Tulsa paper. I opened it to the sports pages and guess what. OU players are bitching about an uncalled foul in the last seconds of the game. Nevermind they just blew a 15 point lead over a 6 minute period. Yeah, bitching about the officials. I won't listen to anybody who blames a loss on the officials. My response is "Get 40 points ahead and that can't happen".
