What is the proper etiquette when one receives positive rep? If someone gives you positive rep is it proper rep etiquette to thank them? I was raised with manors and taught to say thanks (especially to elders like Skip). When I get rep, it makes me feel good and I feel like I should thank the person. Do you thank someone when they give you positive rep?

No way, although I might have done that before. the question you should be asking is:

What are your guidelines, if any, for neg repping someone?

I won't ever neg repping someone for posting something they really believe in - for example, I really, really do not like a few folks on here but haven't neg repped them in spite of their ridiculous rhetoric. But because they really believe what they write about, I won't hit them with a neg rep. I guess only if they were to insult me in some way that is "sensitive" would I do that.

That may be your question, but it's not mine. I was simply curious as to whether people thank people for rep, plain and simple. Saul didn't like the question either.

I don't know, sending them a rep thanking them for a rep? That is kind of weak, you should earn your rep.

But, if you are going to do that chit, its fine, just don't start threads about it. That brings unneeded attention to you.

Kind of like getting singled out as Private Pyle in the movie, "Full Metal Jacket".
