Mike Mayock's report on linebackers

"overall grade for linebacker crop this year .......... A+"

4 linebackers in the 1st round ... maybe as many as 7 in the 1st round

... hawk, sims, greenway and jackson are all elite players and top 20 picks.

1. A.J. Hawk sr. 6'1" 243lbs

one of the premiere players in the entire draft. tremendous career productions. plays well in trash ... knows the game.

a little stiff in pass coverage

4.5/40 smart and tough ... can play all 3 linebacker position in the NFL

2. Ernie Sims Jr. 5'11" 226

immediate impact ... comparisons to Vilma and derrick brooks are legit.

size doesn't matter with Sims ... great explosion. can play the run and rush the passer with equal explosion.

4.4/40

he can play all 3 linebacking positions... can lineup on a tightend and take him completely out of the game.

3. Chad Greenway sr. 6'2" 243

huge grade going into senior season ... didn't have quite as good of
senior season. Had a great senior bowl week. showed he could rush the passer, best drop side to sideline linebacker in this draft.

4. D'Qwell jackson sr 6'0" 227lbs
inside linebacker for terps ...but can play all the linebacker positions.

rush the passer ... play the run ... great athletic ability.

more natural on the inside.

5. DeMeco Ryans sr. 6'1" 236lb
can cover and rush the passer

6. thomas howard sr.

raw, but might be the fastest linebacker in the draft ... like boulware

7. Rocky mcIntosh sr. 6-2 235lb

injury issues ... when healthy makes plays all over the field.

defensive backs are next

I can't take him seriously, if he doesn't even have the "hitman" listed.

Just kidding, but I think it's strange he doesn't have Abdul Hodge listed. I think most agree Hodge is definitely in the top 5 of all the LBers in this year's draft.
