Nate Burleson, WR MIN

News: The Minneaoplis Star-Tribune reports the Vikings have placed the lowest qualifying offer ($712,000) on restricted free agent Nate Burleson. The team would receive a third-round pick as compensation if he signed elsewhere.

Analysis: Burleson is talented and has 1,000-yard potential, but his failures last season and questions about Daunte Culpepper will limit his value. He won't be worth more than a middle- to late-round selection in 2006 drafts.

Maybe they want another team to negotiate his contract.

Maybe they want another team to negotiate his contract.

That was my first thought as well. Keeps them from offering too much to begin with and if the bidding for him gets out of hand for some reason they will at least get a third rounder.

He's not worth a 3rd rounder on top of the price he'll command IMO.

This draft will have some good players at positions we need in the 3rd round.

The thing with RFA is that it sucks for other teams AND the players.... it's an amazing tool for the current team who has the rights.

They can a offer a stingy deal and save uber money, but (1) teams won't give up draft picks for most players, which leads to (2) the player getting the crappy deal has no choice and will play on a cheap contract.

i def give up a 3rd rounder for him. . . knowing the chiefs theyll pick up a 3rd tight end wit the 3rd round pick.

He's pretty good and can fly down the field. Not too mention young. I'd give a 3rd rounder for him.
