Mr. Kotter

I use to be a big movie fan....became indifferent in the 90s, and have become increasing irritated with Hollywood, in general; and their self-important and self-aggrandizing POS ceremony. It's not like I was ever a huge fan, but I used to be curious about the major awards....not the case anymore. I'd rather watch paint dry....

As proof, I am breaking my "no work on Sunday nights" policy.....I'm headed to the office for a couple of hours of work. I'll check back in a couple or three hours....

Anyone else doing something more interesting tonight.....say, cleaning their toe-jam or belly-button lint??? Heh.

So, what are you doing instead of, or perhaps along with the Awards ceremony you may have one ear on....are you engaged in something else, much more entertaining and interesting? Fill the Planet in....

:)

I'll be enjoying the "self-important and self-aggrandizing POS ceremony" with a number of friends. Have fun at work.

How is this for indifferent. Until this thread I didn't even know that it was tonight.

Why do I care what actors think about their own work?

Though if they want to give me one of their damn $100,000+ gift bags for the rich I wouldn't turn it down.

Watch more movies. I immensely enjoyed Walk the Line. No way is it better than Brokeback, Capote, Good Night..., the un-nominated Cinderella Man, etc. It's a fairly formulaic biopic.

For the record, it's fairly well-accepted that Shakespeare won because Saving Private Ryan and Life is Beautiful split the vote. Most people agree it was third. I don't think it was for sale. The Academy couldn't decide and the third-place movie slipped in.

Really? Who's going to win it, then? I thought Hoffman was a lock.

IMO, if I were to order the BA performances based on strength, I;d place them:

1. Phillip Seymore Hoffman - Capote
2. Heath Ledger - Brokeback Mountain
3. Joaquin Phoenix - Walk the Line
4. Terrence Howard - Hustle and Flow
5. Strathairn - Good Night and Good Luck.

but it's a very close 3-5.
