I was almost fired today for my excessive use of the Internet at work. Apparently what we here on the planet consider "safe for work" and what my company considers "acceptable use of the internet" differ greatly. Most of the places I visit online at work are links from the planet. They ran a report on the sites visited and several adult/sexually explicit, gambling, tastless and offensive, etc. came up. I was wondering if this has happened to any other planeteers (besides Sedated.) Poll to follow.

1) I rarely view or post during work, usually because I'm too busy.
2) I'm productive enough at work that my employer doesn't care what I use the Internet for. When I do browse/post to the Planet while at work, nothing comes of it.
3) One and two are probably interrelated.

KFFL comes up as a gambling site, as I found out from my network admin in my last job. Haven't had any issues here.

You work? I thought you were a lawyer.

Right now, I do lawyeresque stuff for a law firm. I don't know if that qualifies as work or not.

my problems have been well documented.

considering we work for the same company, our similar issues is not surprising.

but f*ck putting it on safe mode, that cuts out all the good stuff.

and I look at offensive, explicit, inappropriate sites (child porn) regardless of the planet.

never got in trouble for being here...in fact my boss was told i frequent this place by another chiefsplanet poster he's aquainted with. as long as i'm ready when it's time for work.

as far as surfing the porn and gambling sites, i use a co-workers pc.

I post from work when it's slow. It's no secret, and nobody seems to mind. When someone does say something, it's good natured ribbing.

Must be nice. The Planet is blocked from my place of employment.

I do use "at work" mode nearly all the time. The only time I go to "full featured" is late at night on weekends. At that point it's just myself and one or two other guys in the entire building.

My boss doesn't care. I work for two different companies, and I own both of them, so my boss is me!

Although I own my own business the Planet recently became a major sore spot with my business partner(rightfully so)because my part of the business includes being out and about and selling.

After taking last week away from here to refocus,I'll pretty much be relegated to being an evening and weekend poster from time to time.

I'm too busy posting on the planet to actually go out and find a job.

Nooo... but the boss was pretty interested in the site the other day. He had been looking over my shoulder for about 5 minutes and by golly i didn't even know he was there until he burst out laughing after something the infamous GoKJWERFUIFGESFJG wrote. I think he was laughing with you and not at you too Go... he has your kind of humor.

I know several good former posters, who aren't here because of content on the site...and records showing their hits here.

Alot of good humor, not here now.

I think the only thing saving me from problems, is an IT dept that doesn't know how to check or care for the most part.

I think the other thing saving me from problems, is that I get more work done, while dicking off than most people do who aren't...and alot of my posts are when things are printing or processing.

I was written up for excessive internet usage a couple years ago. ChiefsPlanet was on top of the frequent flyer sites. My super didn't make a big deal of it, had to follow through the protocol when he was told to. Just had to mind the Ps and Qs for awhile, and it's fine now.

At my old job I was in charge of the firewall. :D

Now, I work for a company that has 100+ thousand employees...

I always use "At Work" mode, even at home. I can't stand all the stupid animated pictures and shit.

I say, I say , Damn straight it does, it's addictive. I work for myself, but at times I have to just log out to get any work done.

On the office slow days, it keeps me here to answer calls when I could easily be out on a sales call or doing yard work.

I'm in the process of getting my boss hooked on the planet.

then I can blackmail him, get him fired and take his job.

then I could post all I want.

then I'd take it too far, and get fired

and I could start a business from home, selling used condoms as a new style of bubble gum.

I always us the "at work" feature as well...and its great.

My beef with the boobage avatars and shakin thongs has always been...if someone's boss see's the planet on the list and of sites used and decides to check it out.....they AREN'T automatically(browsing lurkers without accounts) signed into the At work feature.....and all of it is in plain view.

I just think how much better this place would be, if some of those who can't be here, still were.

I assume Bobdole is refering to the Pics forum not being visible without being logged in? I logged out and noticed that. I think that fact is a good thing.

There are however avatars and sigs that could cause issues.

I'm not a fun hater and don't see them because of work mode(another good feature). I just hate seeing good posters fade into cyberspace because they were busted due to content at work.
