I work 3p to 1:30a. Tivo is a Godsend.

I was tired of "hoping to be home in time to catch the begining of that show."

I dropped one of my old receivers and it wouldn't work so DIRECTV said you can have a regular or a TIVO replacement. I choose TIVO. It is a nice complement for the Sunday Ticket. Now even a big dummy like myself can watch, record and store Chief games at my own pleasure.

Basically to skip commercials.....

Kinda nice to watch a show in 18 minutes compared to 30....

Mines a MoXI box, through Sunflower Broadband in Lawrence. I won't go without a DVR again.

tired of VCR machines and tapes breaking or having the quality being crap.

the ability to tape more than 1 show at the same time(without needing multiple VCR machines)

the ability to pause live tv shows for beer run etc(instant record/playback)

tremendously increased storage (250 hours for tivo) ..... 6 hours per tape

the list goes on ... DVR features just dominate

Mostly because I bought into the hype. There were too many people telling me I needed one, even though I wasn't sure I would ever use it.

Now I'm one of those people that doesn't understand how people live without them.

The wife won it at her Christmas party at work. Now we have 3. They are awesome.

Ease of use, the fact that it is pretty low cost even on a college student budget and I can watch the shows I want on my schedule.
