Gonna toss the 36" JVC for a 50" Sony Grand WEGA (http://ostg.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=11402915) Does anyone happen to have one of these or care to weigh in on my choice. I have yet to find a bad review..

You just got back from the Super Bowl and now this? I need to start doing whatever it is you do.

Looks like a hell of a TV...the only bad thing being those Seahawk uniforms will be that much uglier. :)

Have you warmed up to those unis yet?

They are great TV's Joe, but you are paying a premium for the Sony Brand name. Mitsubishi and Toshiba make TVs of the same quality but they don't have the higher price tag due to the Sony branding. Still it was a fine choice.:thumb:

I may be paying a premium for the name, but the picture seemed substantially better to me than any of the plasmas or DLP's..

Now I'm trying to figure out if I need to dump direct tv and switch to cable.. I've heard DTV only offers a few hi-def channels..

Skip?

Check our Costco or Sam's Club before you buy the Grand Wega anywhere else. You can save $300-$500...

Stick with satelitte. All the channels are truly digital and the high def looks better than it does with a cable box. You might consider Dish network as well. They just bought VOOM and now have the largest amount of HD channels available.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Grand Wega. Sony makes a pretty fine set. I've got a 2 year old Mitsubishi that I loved up till I saw my brothers new Samsung DLP. Try checking the on-line sales to low ball your seller.

But what about locals? I get locals now with my direct tv, but someone told me i can't get them in hi def? I gotta see the Masters in hi def.

I haven't been too impressed with Voom but more HD channels is always nice.

If you live within broadcast range you should get the local HD channels ove the air.

If you are in range, the picture on the over-the-air channels is simply stunning.

JS,

Check onecall.com. I think they are located in Seattle.

Bought my 55 inch Sony Wega LCD from there about 4 months ago and the price was 500 off competitors.

I doubt I can get the over the air.. I don't even get the local huge megawatt radio station where I live, and I'm in the city limits!

It's just very hilly around here..

I dont get why DTV can't give me the locals in hi def
