Texas up 3 with 44 seconds.

A&M just wasted about 30 seconds dribbling around then shooting an air ball on a 3. Very disorganized.

10.5 left, Texas up 5.

Gotlieb was saying how impressed he was with A&M beating Colorado... ooooh, they beat Colorado... oooh, it was the best victory yesterday of any team.

This would be slightly more impressive.

A #1 is going down Thursday or Friday... I can feel it! :)
Colorado is way overrated. I think there are a ton of teams that deserved to be on the bubble over them. I don't think they really beat anybody, got totally clobbered every time they played a decent team on the road.

I couldn't believe they were ranked at one time, but I've wondered about a lot of teams' supposed tournament chances *cough*Kentucky*cough* this season.

Kentucky at least has a couple good road wins... won at West Virginia, and at Tennessee, those are real solid wins. And they won a couple games in their tourney. Colorado has... nothing. They beat Oklahoma at home. That's about it. Kansas and Texas beat the crap out of them... and they got clobbered on the road by K-State, Iowa State, and Nebraska. The Big XII just doesn't look very impressive this year.

I'm not sold on Tennessee... I don't really look at what a team did before 1/1. It should definitely play into their seeding -- you can't just throw it out -- but their one recent decent win was Florida, who has always been pretty flaky, and they've been struggling lately.

Kentucky did end up with 21 wins, so maybe I should let the whole not-invited-tournament thing go.... getting an 8 or 9 may just be further proof that the field is very mediocre.

Yeah it is... I'm not sure whether some of these major conferences are just becoming more level, or having a down year. I think a down year. It's really shown through in these conference tournaments with all these high seeds going down to 7 and 9 and 12 seeds.

That's why there is talk about teams from the Missouri Valley or Colonial getting so many in I think. I mean like the Big XII probably has three elite teams better than those conferences, but once you get down to the Colorado's and Nebraska's it is just watered down more than normal. The ACC seems pretty mediocre, hurts that Duke and NC State are limping down the stretch. The SEC doesn't seem to have a true elite title contending team. Even a conference like the Mountain West, that usually gets 2 or 3 teams in, isn't as strong as usual. This is gonna be a real bizarre looking tourney bracket I think.

I'd really like to see Jackson develop some kind of footwork over the summer to where we have at least 1 reliable low post presence. He's got the body and seems to have pretty good touch around the hoop, and definitely has the disposition to allow him to bang and battle.

CoMoChief
03-11-2006, 04:08 PM
I dont think Kaun will ever develope to be anything more than just a bench player. I think Giles is much better and more athletic. Jackson is a better rebounder when given the chance and has better moves in the post. Jackson is someone that I can see being very good when he gets more and more playing time. Kaun is just too inexperienced and clumbsy. He's never smooth on the court. I'm sure many of you know what Im talking about I just cant explain it very well. Kaun should only be a bench player.

Not agile, poor footwork. Doesn't have good spatial awareness.

Texas is good; it won't be easy.....but this team has already exceeded expectations:

I haven't forgotten the loss to Texas....they still have a lot to prove, but they are young and coming on at the right time--and they got nothing to lose, really.

In the right bracket, a Sweet Sixteen appearance would be really a nice cap for their season...

A win for KU would be wonderful. But honestly, I don't think it will affect the Jayhawks' NCAA seeding since the game is on so late. The committee will most likely already have the seedings pretty well done by then. As a Jayhawk fan, I would like to see a good game (with a KU win, of course). A close game (win or lose) would be much better than the outcome the last time these two teams met.

Aldridge is just a little too good for KU's inside guys. And Tucker is a great player. KU has some great talent, especially at the guard positions, but they still play like young players sometimes. Either way, I don't expect a blowout this time around.

I agree. This will be a different type of game. I think we'll have to scrap and claw, but I could see this one going either way.

To address your point about playing young, the guys were scared for the last game, but are ready this time around:

“We were timid the last time we played them,” Jackson said. “I acted like I’d never played before. Now, I’ve got to play with confidence like I did today.”

“The first game we were too anxious,” Giles said. “I won’t say I was nervous, but we weren’t confident. This is a much more confident team. We’ve got to get on the glass against those guys.”

“Buckman and Aldridge are big guys,” Jackson said. “I have to go out and use my body to bang with Buckman and Aldridge.”

Rebounding will probably be the biggest factor to get us a win. Texas owned us in the post last time. That would be factor 1A for a win. 1B will be whether or not Rush can break out of his funk and prove why he's 1st team all Big XII and Freshman of the Year. He really needs to attack and draw some fouls on those big dudes.

That and we also need to run the god damn floor. I dont care what Self teaches on offense this team is physically built to run the floor. I think we are faster than any other team in the Big12 and we need to play with our strengths, which is just that. KU can still play defense, they just need to run the floors more. I know this isnt Roy ball anymore but when KU has played their best ball this season it has been when they can run the court.

Sure can't beat the arrogance of a jayhawk fan when they win. Unless it's the silence you see from them when they lose. I have been on this thread a couple of times today, even acknowledged the KU victory with just uner 2 min in the game.

Djay, I say Texas choked because when the game was on the line, they were unable to step up. It was a great game until the last 5 min. I don't know if TX just got tired or got flustered because they couldn't put the hawks away. Either way, they didn't live up to expectations today. Congrats to the hawks for their w.

If you don't like it, eat your crow and leave. Pretty simple.

And I say they didn't choke because when the game was on the line KU's defense was taken up a notch and Texas couldn't cope despite their best efforts.

I think I'm pretty much on here regardless if they win or lose, but whatever man. When they win a big game like this, you cant argue that one should be excited about it. When they lose, I bitch about things they need to do to get better, or bitch about things they did in the game that allowed for them to lose.

I don't think Texas choked, they just ran out of gas. They only go 7 deep and just don't have the horses for this type of game. I've seen several teams fade down the stretch against us this year. Of course the last time Mizzou did anything of consequence was making the Elite 8 in what '02? And we went to the Final 4 that year so it's not like they could gloat.

yeah i am a die hard mu fan but i can accept when ku does well too, most my friends are ku fans so i decided to stick to my home state, their still tryin to get me to convert esp since MU is fubar for awhile, but i still cant, but i really dont root against ku as much as i did, but i still dont mind if they lose. i just want MU to get competitive again then i can actually talk a bit or laugh when ku loses. cant say much when your team cant backup a season.

MU didnt beat KU. Thomas Gardner beat KU. KU played well enough to win the game, its just one guy goes off and doesnt miss for 40pts, you cant really stop it. This is what happens to teams that rely on one player. They end up with records of 12-17 and the best player ends up on 3rd team Big12 despite scoring almost 20ppg.
