First off, let me say that I love having Surtain, but he's way overpaid.

Len Pasquarelli (http://www.kffl.com/link/17), of ESPN.com (http://www.kffl.com/link/9), reports the New York Giants (http://www.kffl.com/team/26/nfl) have reached a deal on a four-year contract with free agent CB Sam Madison (http://www.kffl.com/player/1016/nfl) (Dolphins). The deal is worth $7.4 million and includes a $2 million signing bonus. He will have base salaries of $900,000 (2006), $1.2 million (2007), $1.5 million (2008) and $1.8 million (2009). By gaining four or more interceptions in a year, he can receive $250,000 through incentives.

Surtain makes roughly 5 times what Madison does. Definitely not worth it.

I agree. Surtain is making 1.335 Million this year, which isn't necesarlly that bad, but after the 2006 season, yeah, that's brutal.

07 $4.650
08 $5.650
09 $7.000
10 $7.500
11 $8.000

I would be that the Chiefs FO would more than likely restructure that contract.

That's not even factoring in the huge signing bonus he received.

Won't be here long enough to collect it.

Actually I'm not sure if he got $14 million... I can find a bunch of articles saying that's in the range of what he was wanting, and his agent saying he wasn't going to be undersold. But the Chiefs never announce how much money they dish out.

The Giants got a Hell of a deal for Madison. That's cheap for a quality, starting CB.

Carl could've signed Anthony Henry, Fred Smoot, Samari Rolle, or any of the other big names on the market for that money, but he was dead set on giving away our 2nd round pick so that he could get exclusive negotiating rights.

Or signed Kelly Herndon and Andre Dyson combined for cheaper than all those guys and tried to improve the front four. *Cough*Like the Seahawks did*cough*.... although that'd obviously never work.

Surtain is a ton better than Madison is at this point in their careers. Madison has become injury prone and is rapidly declining, that's why Surtain got traded and he didn't. Saban recognized that Surtain has value where as Madison had none.

That is pure horse shit and you know it.

I'm pretty sure it was $14 million, cause I remember thinking that it was more than Rolle got ($13 million)

I wonder how that narrow spinal column is holding up?

I don't think some of you saw how bad Madison was last year. Granted that's fairly cheap for a corner, Sam's starting to become a FS candidate.
