Villanova senior Allan Ray got poked in the eye while fighting for a loose ball, and the replay showed what could only be described as his eye popping out of socket. He was reportedly yelling, "I can't see, I can't see" as he was being attended to and escorted off the court.

Thanks to the internet, I've seen "worse" stuff, but I feel sick to my stomach now, thirty minutes later. Absolutely horrible. I hope he recovers.

Shit!! I saw that...

I remember when Phil Ford got poked in the eye when he played for the Kings.

He was heard yelling: "Where's my eye? Where's my eye."

Scary shiot man.

I hope he is able to see again. It one thing to follow a dream and play ball in college it is another to have something like this happen. Sports seems a little less relevent in life when you hear something like this
Wooden eye, wooden eye, wooden eye...
Hair Lip ... Hair Lip!!!

Right now, I don't care about Memphis-UAB, I don't care how this affects Nova's shot at a #1 seed, I don't care about sports... I just hope he's okay.

This is one of the worst things you could ever see during a game. Somebody's life potentially being changed forever is a very harrowing thing to watch.

"He is alright. . . there appears to be nothing severe about the eye injury." - Ray's grandfather, via ESPN reporter Mark Jones.

God, I hope that's right.

People are drawn to that which they know will disturb them...

Don't worry, I'm sure there will be photos and video on the internet soon.

This was easily the scariest thing I've seen since Prothro's injury.

Definitely disturbing. You could see the right side silhouette of his head, and his entire eyeball was protruding out of it. Stuff like this usually doesn't bother me, but this made me cover my mouth.

After Villanova coach Jay Wright's Press Conference

Quote:
NEW YORK – For the second time in as many weeks, Villanova breathed a sigh of relief regarding the health of Allan Ray.

Ray suffered a gruesome injury to his right eye in the Wildcats’ 68-54 loss to Pittsburgh in the semifinals of the Big East tournament. At first, Ray was to remain in St. Vincent’s hospital overnight with what coach Jay Wright called a “serious” eye injury.

However, about a half hour later, Wright returned and said Ray is day-to-day.

“It actually looked a lot worse than it was, an Al’s going to be released. He has vision. It’s much, much better than they initially anticipated,” Wright said.

It was pretty nasty. Krauser gets a finger in, Ray turns, then all you see is this white bubble poking from the side of his socket. It was hard to tell what it was at first. Originally I thought it was just a piece of tape from Krauser's fingers, but the second time I saw it it became pretty clear. Really gross though. Never seen anything like it.

Sounds like he'll be alright and that's great news.

I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often in basketball.

I had a buddy that poked a guy's eye out of his socket in a fight. They were down on the ground and my buddy was locked into an awkward position where all he could do was get his hand up by the guy's face. He took his thumb and jammed it into the guy's eye until it popped out. That pretty much ended the fight. No permanent damage to the guy's eye.

That's the "best" video I've seen of it.
