Sorry Edge, I guess it's all about the money.

So we will see him this year again.

Damn, i didn't expect that. LOL, now they just need a QB to run that offense.

Well who the qb for the Cardinals. They find that then they might have a team.

I know nothing about J.J. Arrington, but it seems like this is a good move by the Cardinals.

They need a QB, though. Do they have a QB yet?

They re-signed Warner to a new 3 year deal.

Until they get an O-line, it won't matter if Gale Sayers is running and Johnny Unitas is passing.

There will be people in here shortly to tell you what a stud Kurt Warner is because of what he did for their fantasy football team last year.

I think it's a great move by the cardinals. Now they can go after other needs in the draft. I can see them drafting Cutler now.

Does anyone know what they are looking for in the first few rounds of the draft this year?

James is going to see what it's like to not have Peyton Manning on your team.

James can still get 1200+ yards on that offense... their two receivers are pretty damn good. I think James likely welcomes a team without Manning to some degree... he won't be losing those 4-5 yard TD opportunities.

No kidding. James could've probably owned that TD record that Alexander got. Everyone knows Manning wouldn't have gotten that TD record if it wasn't for those 25 two yard TD passes.

Terms for those interested...

However, sources told ESPN.com that James receives an immediate signing bonus of $7 million and an additional roster bonus of $4.5 million later this week.

The two-time NFL rushing champion's base salaries are $3.25 million for 2006, $5.25 million ('07), $5 million ('08) and $5 million ('09), according to sources.

The deal will pay James $20 million over the first two years. By comparison, the $62 million contract signed last week by Shaun Alexander pays $18.5 million in the first two years.

That's what I was thinking...

Wow, who would ever voluntarily play for the Cardinals?

I would agree with that sentiment, but I would have to say landing Edgerrin James, just helped their draft become ALOT clearer. Alot of mocks, myself included had them taking a HB in the first round. With Lendale White and DeAngelo Williams on board where they pick, I thought they would definitely go HB. I wouldn't be surprised to see them attempt to trade up for Brick Ferguson if he should get passed Houston.

If the Cards can pick up an O-line to block for Warner and Edge, their offense is scary as hell (at least on paper). Boldin and Fitzgerald make one hell of a 1-2 punch, expecially now with the addition of James to add a legitimate running threat.

BTW... After looking at the Cards website, kcchiefs.com has alot of ground to make up. The format and information available in their site is alot better than the Chiefs.

Atleast the Cardinals are trying to get better by adding some proven FA's in Edge, Milford Brown and Clancy. They see where their weakness' are and are adding some talent, unlike CP and Lamar Hunt... :cuss: :banghead:  :shake:

So the Cardinals go from a has-been free agent running back (or was Emmett an out-of-retirement acquisition?), to an almost has-been free agent running back. Sounds like the Chiefs with their penchant for dredging up the elderly to fill the ranks.

I don't think a 27 year old RB with these stats is borderline Has-Been...

I think this is a perfect fit for Edge.

First he is in the NFC, where you don't need 11+ wins to even make the playoffs.

He is in the NFC west, where he is only competing with Seattle for the division title. The Rams and 49'ers don't stand a chance right now and I don't think Seattle will be sneaking up on anyone any time soon. Also while Alexander has always been a solid back, he is no longer playing for a contract, and Hutchinson is now a Viking.

Edge has been a stud for years now, multiple probowls, rushing titles,
49 100+ rushing performances in 95 games, ranking eighth in NFL history for most 100+ rushing games, for the most part without even needing a fullback.

Interestingly, the Cards base offense uses a 3rd wide receiver instead of a fullback, much like the Colts.

A 28 year old back who rushed for over 1500 yards, two years in a row who signs with a team who was last in the league at only 77 yards per game, looks like a perfect fit to me.

 I think the Cardinals have a pretty good chance of winning a championship before the Chiefs. So if winning a championship is the only criteria that free agents are supposed to look at, you guys are in for a pretty rough offseason.

Anyone else see clips from the press conference introducing Edge James, and see how fat Denny Green has become??

I know he's always been pretty big, but damn he is huge now.

The front page of the Cardinals' website has some pics from the press conference:
