Wed, 15 Mar 2006 08:23:37 -0800

Jeff Legwold, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports the Denver Broncos are shopping their two first-round picks in the 2006 NFL Draft in exchange for early picks in the 2007 NFL Draft. The team does not have much cap space left after paying out several up-front signing bonuses.

Looks like the rest of the AFC West has a case of the Carl Peterson flu this offseason. No one is doing anything, including San Diego who is supposed to have a lot of cap room.

Enh, I doubt they trade out of the first round... they have something like $5M in cap space left and if I read it right, they hadn't really restructured anyone yet. So, there's more room to be had if they wanted/needed it.

San Diego did the same thing last year. Had $20 some odd million in cap room and didn't do anything... doing the same thing really this year. I think more and more teams are doing that, leaving themselves cushion to stay out of any kind of cap trouble.
