LJ likes the Single-Back formation.

We don't need a traditional FB in our offense.

He's 34.

We can spend that $2.5 on some Defense.

etc, etc, etc

This sucks. No doubt he was one of my favorite players. None classier than him on the team, for sure.

Best of luck T-Rich!

Chiefs spend money? HA! We'll wait and get some cheap scrubs late in free agency as usual. Even with a higher cap number, don't count on the Chiefs spending any dough this year.

For years, I have endured ridicule for suggesting that FB was the key to the offense, and now it has come to roost. All these years of ignoring the foundation that has been this great offense, and where are we today?

You mean the guy who blocks so well that other teams put a CB on him? Please.

This signing hurts. Not only are we losing the one guy who may have been able to keep LJ in line, but we are losing one of the top players at the position.

Not only do the Chiefs lose a solid player but the community loses a lot as well. TRich is a good person both on the field and off. He will be missed in many, many ways.

I really liked this bit:

Chiefs team president Carl Peterson said he was "personally disappointed" the team could not work out an arrangement to keep Richardson in the fold.

Makes it sound like its somebody else's fault.

:spock:
C'mon Hog. Surely you can tell from just watching the games how good T-Rich is, regardless of Saunders' actions. He's at the end of his career, and has definitely lost a step or two. Doesn't mean he isn't a great team player and probowler who should have been kept on a year to year basis.

I realise you're just asking, but T-Rich is probably worth more to us than to any other team in the league, and we let him walk. :grr:

I don't think I've really noticed your posts till the Sopranos Thread this year, so...continuously articulate.

T-Rich made alot of key blocks for Priest and LJ over and over. About to find out if it was easy or if TR just made it look easy.

Good guy. Shitty to see him go but if he's taking the offer it's probably for his own best interest.

This is immense overkill, who's the Colts great fullback? Oh yea that's right they don't use one and run the ball fine.

The guy's a damn fullback, I'd love to see the reaction of we actually lost one if the key players on the team.

Man, some of you guys are overreacting just a bit. I expected him to sign with the vikes after mulling the offer. It would've been nice to have him back but we could use that money down the line. 2.5 mill for a blocker thats used in like half plays is alot. I will miss TRICH and his presence on the team but we will get a fine fb to replace him that can block for alot less. Be pissed about other moves that haven't been made. You guys act as if this was Will Shields signing with the Vikes and we are totally ****ed, this running game won't miss a beat.

So now the running game of Minnesota consists of Hutchinson, Birk, McKinney, T-Rich. Thats solid as shit. They will probably draft Mahoney or Williams I guess. Theyre gonna have a great running game next season. Whos there HC again?

Their starting RB is Chester Taylor, they forgot to get a premier RB, we'll see how well he does, he should atleast get a 1000 yards with that blocking you'd think.

Actually, it's $2.5 million total over 2 years, and includes a six-figure signing bonus.

I would be ok with letting TRich walk if we had our eyes on improving the defense with defensive players in FA, but it seems we aren't. We have a lot of money, but yet we're letting defensive FAs out there walk, and now one of our leaders, TRich, is walking. Another familiar Chiefs offseason.
