So this brilliant doctor who has had a long and very successful career, a nationally recognized expert in infectious diseases, decides to make a radical change in his life after some tough years -- surviving a bypass surgery and caring for his former wife who died of a neuromuscular disorder in 2001.

So he remarries and moves to Botswana, where the AIDS rate is 40%, to help deal with the disease and train healthcare workers there.

And then one day...

I don't blame the crocodile. Who wants to eat something infested with the AIDS virus?

Nope, life is not fair. I'm sure he knew that going in. Too bad he didn't get a chance to do more good.

Actually, it sounded like he had put it all together. Other than going sooner than he may have wanted what more could he have asked for?

SRV died in a helicopter just a short while after giving up cocaine and whiskey.

Life was definitely not fair to the guy who got hit by a train at the station near my house this morning. I got there after they'd moved the train but before they'd removed the remains. All I saw was a foot sticking out from underneath a bloody sheet, but it was still a bit more gruesome than I like my day to begin. :spock:

Damn, I know that bodies are their job but come on, be a little considerate and cover a dude up. :shake:

All I could see was a shoe. And blood soaking through the sheet a bit. The carnage was covered.

So... in essence, crocodiles are to blame for Botswana's AIDS problem?

There's something to be said for avoiding third world hellholes.
Or hellholes in general.

I hate it when that happens.

I wonder if the croc will make a purse or pair of shoes out of his hide.....

The other side of the story:

"Crocky", a 7 year-old crocodile with terminal antelopitis, was treated today to a gift by the Make-A-Wish foundation. "All I want," Crocky said, "is to drag a white man from a dugout canoe and eat him."

Crocky's mother was killed by a tiger last year. His father's whereabouts are unknown.

That settles it. I'm never giving up cocaine and whiskey.
