Chiefs | Team interested in K. Johnson
Tue, 21 Mar 2006 20:53:45 -0800

Arthur Staple, of Newsday, reports free agent WR Keyshawn Johnson (Cowboys) is drawing some interest from the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a person close to the situation.

*According to a person close to the situation? I don't know what this means, just posted this for goodness sake.

He'd be the only guy we had that would be big enough to go over the middle. Problem is his hands aren't what they once were and his speed doesn't scare linebackers at this point, much less corners.

Good luck getting this team to sign anybody.

Keyshawn, does not really impress me much anyway!

As long as the price is reasonable... Sure, why not?

Although I think he's a douche and would hate rooting for him.

I'd also say that signing an aging declining WR doesn't seem to jive with the direction this team appears to be going in.

ya I don't think we need him, but for GODS SAKE....can we do something?

Actually, he's become quite the model citizen since the Bucs kicked his ass to the curb.

There's some guys in this league you hope you never have to root for. He's one of them.

Ty Law, Terrell Owens, John Abraham, Julian Peterson, Keyshawn Johnson...who hasn't the Chiefs "allegedly" been interested in? Carl Peterson has yet to get off his lazy ass and do jack shit except sign Quentin Griffin. It's time to stop being interested in someone, and start signing some mother****ers. At least let us know your still ****ing alive carl

Nah I want Charles Woodson. Im sure the Postons would cut us a great deal to maximize the value for the 10 games a season he plays.

Yeah, the person close to the situation is probably one of Keyshawn Johnson's PR people. According to today's KC Star, Keyshawn called up Carl and told him he wanted to play for the Chiefs.

Just as the Chiefs-Terrell Owens hubbub was beginning to die down, Keyshawn Johnson placed a call to Kansas City president/general manager Carl Peterson last week. Johnson had just been released by Dallas to make room for Owens. And as usual, he was very direct.

“I’d really like to be a Chief,” Johnson told Peterson.

Peterson said Tuesday that he appreciates the interest, but the Chiefs have told Johnson to wait a couple of weeks until the franchise addresses some needs on defense. On Tuesday, Johnson was reportedly in New York visiting with the Giants, and the Chiefs were talking to two defensive free agents.

One of them was Buffalo’s Ryan Denney, a 6-foot-7, 275-pound defensive end who had four sacks in 2005.
