Trying to compile a CD of all-time great songs to air drum to. Actually, my friend has a killer drumset that I jam on occassionally... and would like to play along to this cd.
What suggestions do you have?

Personally, I air-drum like mad to the album "Elvenefris" by Lykathea Aflame, and most stuff from Cryptopsy.

As usual, I'll be a prog homer (that's homER, not homO):
"Sound Chaser" -- Yes (Alan White)
"Drum Duet/Los Endos" -- Genesis (Phil Collins and Chester Thompson)
"Karn Evil 9, Third Impression" -- ELP (Carl Palmer)

You have to wear the headband while you do it.

You have to wear the headband while you do it.
And yes, I KNOW it was Mike Reno who wore the headband, not the drummer. It was just a cheap '80s reference.

Brazil by Genesis is pretty good, if I remember correctly.
And the theme for Miami Vice.

"The Brazilian." I thought it worked much better live than in the studio.

I second (or third) the votes for "Wipeout" and "Hot for Teacher."
Also ...
Metallica - "Dyer's Eve"
AC/DC - "Thunderstruck"
Motley Crue - "Dr. Feelgood"
Cheap Trick - "Dream Police"
Helloween - "How Many Tears"
... and, despite admonishments, as no such list would be complete without them ...
Rush - "Spirit of Radio"
Rush - "Tom Sawyer"
Rush - "2112" (especially Overture, Temples of Syrinx, and Finale)

Lateralus - Tool
The Wild And The Young intro by Quiet Riot.
Metropolis Part I: The Miracle And the Sleeper by Dream Theater (although this may be too advanced ;) )
Wildside by Motley Crue
Hmm, I can't seem to think of any modern songs that are good to air drum. :hmmm:

That's a great list. He's got Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater and his side project Liquid Tension Experiment, listed several times. :thumb: Lots of other great stuff like Tool and Frankenstein by Edgar Winter Group.

I don't have a set of air drums, but if I did, I'd play
In The Air Tonight - Phil Collins
She's Waiting (For Another Love) - Eric Clapton
Closet Chronicles - Kansas
Anything with a Bo Didley beat; Not Fade Away, Who Do You Love, etc.
Fool In The Rain - Led Zeppelin
Y'all break a leg.
