<A name=303846>Chargers | Team shopping D. Edwards
Wed, 12 Apr 2006 20:05:17 -0700
ESPN.com (http://www.kffl.com/link/9)'s John Clayton (http://www.kffl.com/link/125) reports the San Diego Chargers (http://www.kffl.com/team/31/nfl) are shopping LB Donnie Edwards (http://www.kffl.com/player/1632/nfl). For Edwards, the Chargers (http://www.kffl.com/team/31/nfl) want a second-round NFL Draft (http://www.kffl.com/link/159) choice. Edwards is entering the final year on his current contract.

Not for a 2nd rounder.

Shopping one of their 3 best defenders?

The Chargers have all kinds of cap room...

:hmmm:

A 10 year veteran, with a torn meniscus. Not a horrible injury to have, it's cartilage right?

Anyway, I would love to have him back. He may be getting up there but he's a consistent tackler, which we do not have (DJ not withstanding), but I agree, a 2nd rounder is way too high for him. I still get pissed thinking about how good he would have been for us the past 5 years.

:hmmm:Yea, this is kind of strange. It's not like SD needs the cap space.

I wonder if they entered into contract talks to try and lock him up early, and realized he was going to be too unreasonable in his demands. Maybe they figure it's better to get something for him now than just let him walk at the end of the season.

By the way. I think Edwards would be a solid OLB in a Cover 2.

Yeah. if he recovered from his injury.

Would love to see him back if only for a couple more seasons.

Incentive contract and a 3rd rounder.

Trade him for a 6th rounder and Kendrell Bell...

I'm sure Gunther is foaming at the bit over this. Of course he's madly in love with Kendrell Bell.

this should give us an indication that San Diego will draft a LBer at #19.

They want to shop Edwards, and Godfrey has been around forever.

Isn't that why we let him go? Could not tackle a RB in the flat on a screen Pass?

I was an Edwards fan, but I don't want him back in KC. Besides him not being worth the draft pick, I think we can get a solid OLB a lot cheaper out Bell, Fox, or Griffin.

Don't we already have plenty of guys who can make tackles 7-yards ownfield?

Yeah, but nobody who rides 'em for 7 yards like Donnie does.

Jerome Bettis used Donnie's tackling as a negotiating tactic..

Donnie Edwards asking for more money than he deserves? He'd never do that...

Donnie is only as good as your defensive ends. DT made Donnie look great. After DT's passing Donnie was average at best exposing he could not stuff the run.

We dont need another LB. We need Dline and secondary help.

I'm all for the Chiefs trading their 2nd round pick every year.

Who was the last non-bust the Chiefs drafted in the 2nd round?
