I got in my car today to come to work, and it suddenly knows the songs on the radio. The little screen that usually just shows the call numbers now shows the station and the call numbers, and then whenever a song come on, it displays the name of the song and the singer.

This is freaking me out, man. Did it always know this information, and is just now sharing it? Is it somehow trying to communicate with me? Is it somehow sentient now?

I swear. I didn't hit any buttons or anything. It just chose today for some reason to begin communicating with me.

Is it a Volvo?

BMW. I've had it for three years, and up to now the only things it has ever said to me are 105.1 and 97.3 and 105.5.

Your radio's always had the capability, but I bet the station you listen to just started broadcasting it. I didn't know my car could do it either till I was in Denver over spring break.

If you were a noob I would say it was Skip and his damn satellites. Since you are not, it must be the government.

The odd thing, though, is that all of my stations did it at once. When I noticed it, I switched to a different station and it was still there. I wonder if all the radio stations signed up for the service at once, or if they all had it in place and some key system just went live.

Or maybe the same company owns all of the radio stations I listen to.

That is the Most Logical Reason

My radio on my Toyota does this too. There's an ETR button that you may have pushed...

All this means is that they've finally updated the radio database to include Wierd Al Yankovic, John Tesh, and Pat Boone's "In A Metal Mood".
