I use Dollar General to help me avoid going to Wal-Mart. A lot of their stuff is cheaper than Wal-Mart. I like their fake Dr. Pepper and they have all kinds of paper goods. I go there 2-3 times per week and WM once per month or less.

Is Dollar General a "Everything is a dollar store?". I didn't think it was.

But, the answer is no. Generally you can find a better deal when buying in bulk.

If you check out the quality of the Dollar Store merchandise you will find that it's cheaper because it is actually cheap. Most items are knockoffs (or at least perceived to be).

I would compare the quality of the stuff in the Dollar Stores to, what Skip surely saw as a young man, the stuff from Japan. That stuff was less expensive and always was trashed before it should have been.

I'd say that in all things you get what you pay for.

Here in Independence the two biggies for alleged "bargains" are Cargo Largo and Big Lots. Sometimes you can find a good deal on something, but just like any purchase, it helps to have a general idea of how much stuff costs before you buy. I don't like shopping at Wal-Mart either, because Wal-Mart kills small town merchants and really hurts the US trade imbalance with China.

But they do have cheap cat food...

Hmmm...world trade imbalance or cheap cat food...

Greeting Cards, B-Day Cards and Sympathy cards

However soda doesn't expire for quite awhile, and usually they go through a packaging change before the soda expires, so you'd be able to tell anyways.
