I live on the east side of Lawrence and my car got F'ed up last night from the hail. It got up to around golf ball size here, while the North side of Lawrence got up to baseball size. Anyways, does anyone on here do any body work on cars or know of anyone who won't bend me over to fix it???

I had a friend tell me that you could get those kind of dents out by parking the car outside on a hot summer day for a while and then putting a piece of dry ice on the dent. He said it would pop right out.

Disclaimer: I have no idea if it works or what it would do to the paint.

Hmm...interesting :hmmm: I'll see if I can find any concrete evidence of that method on google.

The hot summer sun will take out some of the smaller ones, smaller ones is the key. Golf ball or baseball size, hail no.

See someone in your area that does paintless dent removal. Cheaper than a body shop.

i had a lil local place fix some of the body damage so i could sell it for something $$$

WOW...grapefruit size...that would be ridiculous. I can only imagine what a car would look like after that hit it. Did you lose any windows or anything?

Pics of..?? The hail? My car? I'm not sure pics of my car would show the dents..with the glare you probably couldn't see crap. A local news station had pics of the hail that hit lawrence up on their website..ill put up that link if i can find it.

Whoever said I was a KU fan? Just because I live in Lawrence doesn't mean I like KU. I like Oklahoma State basketball a lot more than KU basketball, although I do still root for KU. As far as college football goes...i hate it, so I am a fan of none

Anywho, if you want to see a picture of the hail that hit last night, here you go..

I didnt see any pieces that size at my place, but some close..like i said, right around golf ball.

Would you happen to have any ballpark range of how much he would charge to remove around 35 dents (with only a few being pretty bad)??

Bob Dole had well over 100 dents and had it repaired by one of the paintless dent places that set up shop here for 3 months.

The cost was a little less than half the amount of the check the insurance company wrote to Bob Dole.

That's awesome. I have a $1000 deductible and assume that the damages won't cost that much to repair it, although i really have no idea how much it would cost to repair hail damage. Perhaps I should contact my insurance agent?? Or should I get a qoute from a body shop first?

I had $14.5K damage to my house from that last hail storm. You can barely tell there is any damage at all but I'll get a new roof, deck and fencing stained, new windows and gutering. Hail is my friend.

Haha..well, I didn't even think about insurance covering the damage. I figured that it wasn't that expensive (under my $1000 deductible) to have dents removed from your car, but maybe not. I'm gonna have to get some estimates today and see if i can pull off what you and mr. dole have done. My luck they will say it costs like $800 to $900, just slightly under that deductible. Damn insurance companies! :cuss:
