It's a tossup as to what is most revolting about Al Gore's determination to vote-rig his way into the White House. You could argue that it is the daylight-brazenness; decent people know that this sort of thing is done under cover--that's how Boss Daley, father of Gore's campaign chief, Bill Daley, always did it. Then there is the utterly reckless selfishness; the price of a Gore presidency will be a constitutional crisis, a divided nation and a taint on the presidency. But we've been there before, and as Gore's boss said at that time, the important thing is just to win.

You mean the presidency isn't already tainted?

HC_Chief,
Excellent articles. Too bad they will be ignored.

The number of responses to this post is a telling tale.

Idaho - What I find most interesting: these columns are writen by known liberals. The Washington Post is considered by many on the 'right' to be a leftist rag! It seems the truth is getting through to some people.

Mrs. Gaz sent me this same article early yesterday. Very well written and direct.

And destined to be ignored by the vast majority of Americans.

It is a sad state of affairs, but never the less true, that many liberals/democrats will simply not listen to a plea for justice (or an outcry of corruption) if it comes from conservatives/Republicans and is directed against Al Gore.

We, I believe, may be at the mercy of clear thinking liberals like the author of this article. Many such clear thinking liberals exist, they are simply usually drowned out by the fanatical extremest wing of their movement.

We are quickly approaching a time when the integrity of our Democratic Republic will rest on the backs of Statesmen, not partisans.

I'm currently listening (in between phone calls) to the John Boy and Billy radio show. I think they are syndicated out of Charlotte SC. Anyway these are what most people would call "good 'ole boys". But they are making an attempt to get the very essense of these articles out to their listeners. They are calling for an end to this. I feel they, as I think they do, are fighting a loosing battle. They ask when will this end (retorically) and realize that it will only end when Mr Daley steals this election for Gore. I think I am going to be sick.
