The one thing I hate about the draft is how long the first round is...... I hope the NFL makes Texas pick Mario as quickly as possible....

That's not the way it works. Keep wishing.

ESPN will need at least 10 minutes to bash the Texans for passing on Reggie.

IIRC, there's always been that rumor about the '99 draft, the Colts had their pick for Edge in after about 2 or 3 minutes. ESPN made the NFL hold it until time was almost up so that they could play up the, "will they take Ricky or Edge" angle.

I bet the NFL/ESPN is kinda pissed that Texas and Mario already agreed because it kinda took a lot of the big surprise out of it.... but then again it made the rest of the draft alot more nuts...

yes. That is what makes the draft unwatchable. They should just give them 5 minutes.

1st round is way to long imo, they should cut it 5min or so each pick

Michael Irvin said it best....... the Texans will be drafting Patrick Ewing and will let Michael Jordan slip bye......

People keep saying this but it is waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy too early to tell. Saying that they are passing on Jordan is saying that they are passing on someone who will be the best person ever to play the game. And we already have Julian Battle.

They've had months to decide, I agree with whats his face up there, five minutes is enough.

My guess is that the networks have a contract with the NFL that permits them to have been selling advertising in the based into each of the draft blocks. I don't think they could elmiate the first 15 minutes if they wanted to.

Charley Casserly will have to get his face out there as much as possible. That will take half the 15 minutes. What has he ever done? Say what you want about Carl, but there is a lot worse out there and Casserly is a prime example.

No kidding, and I'm sure that annoying accent goes over real well in Texas.

15 minutes is too long. That's why I just pop in and out of the draft. Too boring listening to the talking heads.

Exactly, instead of some questions about what the top 5 will do now it's wide open.

I wouldn't be shocked to hear Denver trying to trade up. They've got the ammo to move up and with their money situation it wouldn't be out of the question to see them package some picks and move up into the top 10...

i don't understand why the first pick requires more than 30 seconds. After that it should probably increase in time for each pick of the first round - the lower the pick the greater number of contingencies they have to plan for. but it's prt of the theater for the tv so it stays.

If he wasn't such a bad commentator he would realize his NBA comparison wasn't players in the same draft class.
