Since this thread is up here, I have some DIVX files I want to burn but don't appear to have anything that will do it. Any El Cheapo suggestions?

You don't have a DIVX capable DVD player I take it? DIVX is just a file. If you have a DVD burner any burning program will work. I prefer Nero.

I have a DVD burner but Nero gives me an error,"No Compatible File Found" when I try to deal with DIVX. I have the DIVX codecs installed.

What version of Nero are you using?

I've only done it a couple times, but Vso Software's DivXToDVD worked for me. Really easy, too.

freeware and fast
gui4ffmpeg
it converts xvid/divx to DVD etc. Well it converts to DVD compliant MPEG2 files but then you can use any number of DVD creators to make the disc.
I never trust all in one AVI to DVD solutions.

Might I suggest DVDSanta does not take long to convert videos and is easy to use.

I use a couple of programs, but both fairly pricey. Adobe Premiere and Ulead's DVD Workshop.....

Any DVD creators out there that are free that allow you to create your own menus? Don't know that I am ready to spend a bundle just to have menus.

Tmpg Dvd Author is pretty good, if a bit basic.

It shows it is $90. Is there a stripped down free version or something?

Not that I know of. There may be a time-limited trial on it, but I don't remember. I bought it, but if you have no moral qualms there's always Usenet....
this works well

I use Nero Recode for that. I recently compiled a bunch of workout videos for my wife, then built a menu for it... she loves it! DVD circuit training ;)
