on a side note, the Joe Mays signing looks pretty awful, but the Scott Elarton signing has been very solid, and tonight so far has been solid.

I just read this in Posnanski's article, but was anyone watching when Buck had the passed ball on the pitchout? Did that look as terrible as it sounds?

Well I have to be real. We will never spend the $'s the Yankees and Redsox spend until the rules change. Everyone knows that teams get screwed. But it is not har dot field a .500 club. Especially in our division.

We attacked the hitters
We were smart at the plate
We BUNTED oh my God how huge was that???
We played error free defense

It's nice to see Guiel back as well - hopefully he can get some regular playing time. I don't want Reggie to go on the DL, but Reggie can play left and Guiel right and send Emil to the bench where he belongs.

Here's to Elvis giving us our 3rd straight quality start tomorrow.

Hey, if we can get to 8-20, that's the same place we were when Pena guaranteed us the division 2 years ago, so there's still hope.

They tried to choke it away. As I was watching the 9th unfold all I could think about was how to explain another loss but in the end they pulled it out. Decent game but boy does the line up look like a list of cast offs moreso then it did before. Any other suck player that needs a job come out down to KC we have a spot for ya.

Nice to see Guiel back, I know a lot of folks wonder why he is loved bu some of us fans and I think it is because he is a blue collar hustle player and that is was playing baseball is about. He is all substance and no show. Gotta like a team first guy like Guiel.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Teahan never played another game in a KC uniform. Buck and Brown had better get the message or they're probably next.

I too wish I could grasp the wisdom of not playing Huber.

Baird can't get fired soon enough.

I think that would be very unfortunate. Teahen is only 24 years old, he still has a long time to develop.

And everybody gets on Emil Brown... you go over to kcroyals.com and read all these people who think Guiel is the 2nd coming and want to dump brown, it's so bizarre. I don't understand at what point Aaron Guiel became twice the player Emil Brown is, I just don't see it. I'm not sure one is really that much better than the other. Emil did the same thing last year, had a poor first month (actually worse than this year) and everybody called for his head. I'm willing to let him try and play through this again. Plus, just in watching him, he probably has the best approach to hitting of any of our hitters, he leads the team in walks, he's hit well with runners in scoring position, I think he's gonna pick it up a bit. He did have a 3 hit game two nights ago. But I don't think he's having a problem seeing the ball.

I mean that's the brilliance of our fan base... I don't understand the Huber thing either, but we have a historically pathetic offense and to fix it the fans want to release the most patient hitter/best RBI guy left in it right now. That is brilliant. Just shoot me in the face.

No, we want someone, anyone, who can get the job done. The man in charge of assembling those players has failed miserably, and the fact we're discussing whether of not they should play Guiel or Emil Brown, is a bad joke.

Teahan was never more than an average prospect to begin with. His minor league numbers bare that out. He's a slap hitter that strikes out a lot. The kid has shown absolutely No signs of improvement. I'm perfectly fine with German playing the rest of the year at 3rd.

My whining aside, I'm looking forward to seeing Elvys pitch tonight.
Who knows, maybe Buddy will surprise us and DH Huber.

You might be right. Teahen may be Sean Burroughs. He also might be Phil Nevin. I don't want somebody else to figure that out though. He would not be the first guy to reach his potential at 27, 28 years old. Actually that's probably more the norm. When you're an organization like the Royals you just can't quit on guys like that. That's how you end up with Chris Shelton or Johan Santana, or Mark Ellis...

Sure-Oz
05-06-2006, 03:09 PM
No kidding, give him a shot to develop and become better. There have been so many players that got way better later. Luis Gonzalez def. is one i think of....dude was weak with houston and chicago and later became a star player. There are many others. Being a young guy that Teahan is we have to give him some time. He's a quiet kid for sure though, got his autograph, dude barely look at ya. I want him to suceed, hopefully being in the minors he can work on his game and come back decent.
