Stevie gave me the dates he heard at the draft party but I want to know if there any planned scrimmages or events this year before I start making hotel reservations.

I have been around some of the other teams in the NFL and no of them have released them as well so the NFL must the ****ers responsible.

I agree but it is not good news for Sims who will actually have to get in shape.

Sims is in the same shape he was at this time last year. It's not a problem at all, because they're talking about 10-yard sprints. If Sims applies himself like he did at the beginning of last year, he'll be fine.

The problems are twofold:

1) The scheme has to allow him to ATTACK. He's not an occupy-blockers kind of tackle. Gunther has said since he came back that his scheme would allow this, but so far he's played far too conservative.

2) He has to stay healthy. I question whether or not he can.

Did Gun indirectly call out Dick V. for (paraphrase) "inflating guys egos by giving them credit for tackles they didn't make"?

He mentioned that he knew his role under DV, but when asked by CP he gave his honest opinions, then was happy to have Herm in.

Carl should be shot for creating a situation where this type of behavior between coaches was even possible.

Gunther should be shot for crawling back here under such ridiculous circumstances.

And Vermeil should be shot for once again acting like a spoiled child who didn't get his way.

So who's going to 1 Arrowhead drive to face K. Bell and Gun?
I will. If I never have to hear another Gunther Cunningham interview before the season, it can't be soon enough. I am about to reach the fed up point to his double talk. If he was lying about being unhappy all these years, why should I believe him now? He's just gone and thrown Vermeil under the bus, when Gun didn't have to freaking be here in the first place. If you have a problem, you can quit! That's what Joe Vitt did. He didn't like how Gun was going to run things, he quit. Every year it's something different. He can bash Vermeil for wanting guys to feel better but all he's done for three years is talk up every single player on our defense, except Eric Warfield.

I think our defense will be better, but I'm not very confident it'll be because of Gun. So far all he's done is keep talking.

Yeah, it'll be okay once the season starts and we can see some football, but for right now in the dead of offseason it's like... uh, yeah, let's do this again. Although the more all these guys talk the more it seems like Carl and Gun had a lot of control over the team the last few years and Vermeil was just kinda pushed on out. Carl overruled him on Larry Johnson in 03, brought Gun on in 04, worked with Gun to bring in FA's in 05... and apparently Gun and Carl were having secret conversations behind Vermeil's back the whole time.

Yet somehow, despite the fact they did all this behind his back and had all this control, it's still Vermeil's fault we failed. Maybe Carl should've just fired Vermeil 3 years ago and named Gun as head coach again.

I'm pretty much with you on this Mr. tk13. But, I've been thinking. Maybe, just maybe, having Gun as DC is a good thing.

Since the only good defense Gunther has fielded as a DC had superstars on the roster, Carl and Herm may know that they have to make up for his incompetence by getting much better players. And, that's what they've done. Our draft has been defense oriented since he came back.

So, in a way, Gunís limits may be beneficial to us in the long-term.

Well Gun hasn't been all bad, I do think he has brought back some attitude, we definitely hit a lot harder now and I like that... but there's just always some reason things go wrong. I like Herm, I think having him at the top will help a lot. Gun's best work definitely came under other defensive head coaches... Marty and Jeff Fisher in Tennessee.

Yep, I'm sorry to say it, but I agree totally. I'm sick of the B.S. The straw that broke the camel's back for me is his stupid, blind obsession with Kendrell Bell. The guy can't play, due to his chronic groin and shoulder injuries. If Fox or Griffin aren't starting at OLB in place of Bell, our defense will suck again. Gun had to have Sammie Knight last year, and now he drafts Pollard to replace him. All the B.S. about Eric Hicks simply needing to line up a yard farther outside of the tackle in order to reclaim his 14 sack magic of 2000. The B.S. about Jerome Woods simply needing to play a yard farther off the line of scrimmage in order to not get burned like toast on every play. All B.S. Apparently the 1998 defense was the more accurate barometer of his coaching ability as opposed to the '95-'97 defenses.
