Personally, I don't like marinades on steaks. They taste just fine by themselves, especially ribeyes.

There's a 30-minute marinade at the store in a bottle that is Dijon, and tastes as good or better than anything I've ever had.

I just use some already mixed marinades I get from the store; when I use it at all.

If your local grocer carries Andria's Steak Sauce, I would highly recommend it. I used to work at the restaurant, stuff is awesome. Use the sauce to marinate the steak and then also brush it on while grilling. However, you don't want to use it as a dipping sauce like Heinz 57 or A-1.

It's about $4.00 a bottle, but well worth it.

Good steaks don't need a soak. Buy Iowa Beef.

I have soaked some lesser cut steaks in a dish of beer, H57, pepper, season salt and whatever else I felt like.

A1 makes marinades. (http://www.kraftfoods.com/a1/bn/c_marinades/)

The Chicago Steakhouse one is awesome on pork. I've neever tried it on steak, but I'm sure it's not bad. If you're doing it for girls, try the Teriyaki. Chicks dig teriyaki.

We use this for flank steak:

1 part soy
1 part vinegar
4 parts oil
garlic powder

marinade at least over night, but up to a few days is better. Cut flank steak across the grain before serving.

I wouldn't marinate a better cut of meat.

Just rub the steaks with olive oil, then apply steak rub.

If you don't have steak rub: salt, pepper, onion, garlic, etc.

Make sure you cook them hot and fast...and pull them off the grille a little under cooked. Tent them in aluminum foil for ten minutes (this is called resting)...the juices will be flowing.

Cut and enjoy.

Sigh, for the last time YOU DON'T MARINADE GOOD STEAK! If it's a cheap, freezer burned hunk of shite then go for it but why would you waste a good steak by slathering a bunch of refined sugar and butter on it?

If your chick can't understand that just get her a hamburger and she can load it up with all the crap she wants.

Sorry for the harsh response but this is a pet peeve of mine.

Generally, the less you do with a good cut of beef, the better.

I just grill it to medium, heavy on the mesquite smoke on the second turn.

Do not ruin your steak by using a marinade or steak sauce. Just grill it and use a little bit of cracked pepper and course sea salt.

That is an incredible combo right there,I also add a little Italian dressing garlic salt and a large cut onion. When I've finished marinating I put the rest of the sauce etc in a pan and heat it up for a topper over the steak. The onions are unbelieveably good cooked in that mixture.

I agree with most here that a good cut should't need it, but if you must I like ChiefsFan4Life's and Nzoner's ideas.

Sprinkle it with:
-Garlic salt
-black pepper
-salt
-onion powder
-French fry salt (if you have it fine , if not remember to get some itís an all around spice)

BOTH sides,
go lightly, you only want to enhance the meat, not over power it.

If frying in a pan, toss in a bit of butter, chop some onions and mushrooms, fire them in, brown for a few mins, then toss in the steak. Turn OFTEN cook over a low/med heat.

If BBQ, turn often, cook slow.
GUARANTEE youíll like the results :thumb:

salt and peppa...

AND make sure your meat is at room temp prior to cooking...

Here's a little something I threw together last summer that I now use everytime I grill:

BBQ sauce (KC Masterpiece)
A little Honey
Italian Dressing
Worcestershire sauce
A little Accent Salt
A little Pepper

Mix it all together. Let your meat marinate for a couple hours. Hit the grill. FLIP ONCE! Enjoy!

EDIT: I'll add that this is good on steaks, but is absolutely to die for on ribs, country style ribs, pork, and chicken breast.

just a dash of soy sauce, unless you've got cheap meat...

Do not ruin your steak by using a marinade or steak sauce. Just grill it and use a little bit of cracked pepper and course sea salt.

this is, technically, the correct answer....if you're too lazy to grill just rub both sides with kosher salt/fresh black pepper..sear both sides for 3-4 minutes in a super hot oven proof pan, throw pan and steak in oven for 5-10 minutes...shazaam...
