Chargers | Edwards reportedly lost respect from some teammates
Sun, 4 Jun 2006 09:29:33 -0700

Jim Trotter, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers LB Donnie Edwards is on the trading block because he has lost the respect of some of his teammates and many in the front office. Edwards constant complaints about being underpaid and underappreciated is believed to be the cause. Edwards signed a five-year contract worth $18.75 million in 2002, but started asking for more money after two seasons.

I'm not surprised.

He's always thought he is worth more than his actual value.

I don't remember the number, but it was for less than he would've gotten from the Chiefs.

He was good... but I see he is a payme guy. That didn't excel to many more years.

He felt disrespected because he wasn't offered TG type of money here so he took less money to go to SD, not a shock that he is bitching about money again.

Of course the way he is going, he will probably end up going somewhere else and get paid even less...

I hate spoiled athletes. They are paid millions to play a game and it still isn't enough.

I call B.S. The "front office" may claim to have lost respect, but I don't believe the players care. Every one of them lobbies constantly for higher pay.

It must suck to get paid so well for doing something you love. Plus, get a 1/4 of the year off...

Considering the grind that playing in the NFL is and the proven fact of how many years of takes off of ones life.......I'd be trying to get every penny I could too.
