KIEV (Reuters) - A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.

"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."

The incident, Sunday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an "animal island" protected by thick concrete blocks.

So did he prove that there's no God, or did he just prove that God doesn't like to be ordered around?

Is this true? If so, it doesn't prove God doesn't exist, but it does prove that God will punish arrogance... :p

He just proved God likes lions more than humans

At the same time the man was praying for protection, the lion was praying for food to fall from the sky

It's too bad he wasn't a druid, because a tree may well have saved him if he was fast enough.

Guessing his name is not Daniel?Daniel was a prophet, so he had Gods frequency tuned in real good.

As far as I know, there are no more prophets.

The guy didn't account for the fact that you can't just kick your shoes off in the middle of the living room. That will piss off any woman.

Social Darwinism at its finest.

I'm guessing the "if he exists" part shot down any chance of divine intervention.

Rain Man

That's a great story for the lioness.

"And so there I was, just lying around panting in the sun, and all of a sudden one of those meat things from up on the ledge came down and walked right toward me! It surprised me so much that I almost forgot to kill it!"

Something like "If God exists he'll give me a billion dollars" might have made more sense.

Too bad she didn't have a cub she was teaching to hunt. She could have kept dragging the guy back to the center of the enclosure so he could try to crawl away and little Simba could learn how to jump on his back and give him the kiss of death time and time again.

I thought Social Darwinism and Natural Selection were 2 different things.

Social Darwinism is an economic-class philosophy, much like Reaganomics or capitolism.

but I'm probably wrong :hmmm:

I dunno, I grew up with some kids were there parent were hardcore religious, they couldn't listen to any non-christian music and pretty much sheltered their kids, they couldn't have friends or anything. And I no for a fact that this kid named malachi is in/our of jail, does meth and what not.....oh and he thinks he's a gangster too and his brother is the same way and I think it was a result of his crazy church going parents...I saw the guy at my high school reunion a couple years ago...he was messed up!!

A more true appplication would be to classes of people, but I like to apply the term to individuals.
