I was only on there a few months before they shut it down. They warned us it was going down and we were competing to see who would get the last post. There was a little subforum named something talk where Pastor Mike posted under MHolman. There were a lot of trolls, one in particular, named Rambro. Really obnoxious.

It all started out with a single HTML page with stylistic times roman font where you could post freely without even entering a password. Things were a lot more laid back then, nobody giving anyone shit for no reason, trying to start shit (eh um "the asshole formerly known as Sidewinder", Simplex3). Things were good for a few years. Then the Raiders got Gannon kept the Chiefs from going to the playoffs in 99 and some tool named DrCool976 shows up to talk shit about the Raiders owning the Chiefs. For the next three seasons the Raiders did pretty much own the Chiefs which is why Superbowl XXXVII was the best superbowl ever. Then at some point I left and went over to rivals.com which was great until it went under. I preferred the format of their board to Chiefsplanet. After they went down I pretty much quit the Chiefs BBS's for a few years until joining the planet.

I was a n00b and I knew my place. Much unlike todays n00bs who own the place in three days. Logical had some other name and he argued constantly. I didn't like him so didn't approach him. He really hated Denise and once told her he hated her with "every fibre of his being". He was still pretty fiesty when he came here and the Pig Pen. He has mellowed a lot since then. Well, until lately anyhow. KC Johnny was on there and he didn't have many friends but I was one, what with me being a n00b and all. I wanted friends back then.

Here's my version--- -----------------------------

A long long time ago on a message board

their was base and charter members of ChiefsPlanet that included Rainman,KCTitus,KCWolfMan,Bob Dole,KlosterPhobia, Logical, htismaqe, Gaz ect..

Their was constant activity friendly jabs, and was as active as ChiefsPlanet back in the day. People threw friendly barbs at one another. Though their were dark days on the KCStar BB. These individuals were opposing teams spammers that would ravage it too it's very core, and of course the lazyass Star moderators let this activity run for days before taking any real action. As the evil known as the spammers regressed that BB came another rigid truth if one member of that BB wrote anything that fit their guidelines as "non-football" related was deleted on the spot.

Posters like KCTitus spoke anything that concerned politics on their Football BB was deleted without any explanation this inspired rage, and insurrection amongst fellow poster's like any movement their was an ideal that we all craved free speach no matter the topic which was the base creation of Chiefs Planet. When one finally had the oppurtunity to create a eutopia for the posters of KCStar BB they were happier than pig in it's own bawlmovement. Spamers were struckdown with a mighty hand, and we were free to discuss anything on one BB with no subforums .

During the days grey and yellow we had great times laughs, you know shits and giggles. Every poster had their place in the community posting 30-50 posts a day about quality topics with geniune, witty, and uniqueness that defined each of us back in the day. Many emulated Gaz since the KCStar board, and when I joined in '98 the gaz option was already in place, and forever will be for the ones who remember Gaz.

The Girly Thread was created by Big Daddy in 2002, and the reason why original handle was banned. During the 6-10 season , and the sudden arrival of the Rams to STL fairweather posters jumped ship to become Rams fans. This is also where some of the calous nature of the BB comes from too if you are too much of a homer, or a fairweather fan you will get bashed, and hazed. Only the strong can survive ChiefsPlanet, and is shown with every poster here in which you can discern from the weak and strongwilled on the BB.

While this jubilation was occuring their was a dark force going to rear it's head in the form of NEPA, and it's lunatic creator JD Prez. The information their was so maligned due to the NEPA creator's maniacal stalking of Phobia, and going to the point of making threats on Phobials answering machine at his house. This inturn generated a spoof site of NEPA called NEPACheese. I forgot who created it, but I owned Prez in the smack department their, and called the forum provider brave.net to take it down, because JD Prez was being a little bitch.

Which brings things to the 2003 area in which a suddle decline, and friction between AustinChief, and Phobia began to develop which leads us where we are today. I left the creation of 37forever, because I forgot who originally brought forth the idea.

If you want more info contact a KCStar '95 alum, or ask me specific questions that you are mulling over

Actually, ominous is oddly fitting.

I threw the second gathering, it was a bowling party, and then we all went and hung out at the Casino's. We had that one because Bob Dole was coming into town, and the bastard didn't show up. KCWolfman, Smell the People, Denise, KC Jones, Pam Dawson and a couple others were there. The KC Star admins showed up and had a couple drawing for a few tickets to something or other.

I don't think there was another gathering until Fraz, Raiderhader, Kcwolfman, Rausch and myself all got together in a bar up in the Northland.

I'm beginning to see, now, why so many of the veteran posters are feeling the way they are.

It must be a little sad to see a community that started with one particular, close-knit group change. I imagine that a lot of you are missing the Hitler-looking guy in particular.

Still, change can be positive, too. There are some worthy N00bs (sp?) on the board, I think. It's just that N00bs (sp?) don't share your experiences. So you have to make new memories. No one can reproduce the great fart threads of the past. We just have to make the most of the fart threads of the present.

This is fair summation, imho...I lurked at the Star board, lurked here briefly before joinging....I've never been interested in the offline stuff, so my experience is quite different...

I respect and understand the feelings of the oldest-timers, but I'm just happy to have a place to get some Chiefs buzz and ocassional wierdness. Personally, I feel like the board has been more active this offseason than last, though stats may prove me wrong. And, sure, most of the threads may be borderline insane in their pointlessness...still, when training camp rolls around the football talk will too.

I'm happy to see the new faces...well, mostly. ROFL

Do you remember his username? I waited several months before registering here and he is a couple of months behind me. He may have gone elsewhere like I did. Why hasn't Mike Keck been mentioned? Wasn't he the dude who wanted to meet at the airport and fight?

OK kiddies gather round for the lore of ChiefsPlanet is soon to abound.

Once upon a time in the mid 90s many, many of us like the Senator, Logical, Titus and even ole mean DEnise all posted together in an incarnation of the Star BB that was formatted much like todays Planet. We were a hardy group who harbored much anger and venom and we would fight the nights through. As time wore on our numbers grew and a bond did seemingly develop.

Then lo one night the evil witch Becky suddenly set to banning people for political speech in her forum. Many a poster thought it was at the bequest of the Evil DEnise but she doth deny it but defend Becky mightily did she. Soon the regulars were being banned right and left and lo came a savior nigh onto us with an initial parry to Russ (KCWolfman) and a few other. Lo the Planet was born and things were good and a mass exodus did ensue in 2000 August the year AD.

Now the story is told that the wicked DEnise claimed she would never post here, though I have never been able to document its truth, this is a widely held rumor of truth. For many months DEnise only made a token appearance and went back to the Star to lay claim to her now lonely throne, where only the n00Bs and trolls did now roam. All went well until behold technical problems with server volume did raise an ugly head.

Thence Pigskin Park/Pen was doth conceived and rivaled this board for usage and steam. Now the Star BB did shut itself down and an influx of poster at both the Planet and Park did begin and grow and grow did each board rise.

Now it is told that the Park had and Planet had many dual members but for its technical problems was the Planet Noted.

Meanwhile at the Park their arose a clamor by Gaz and DEnise of separation of political matter. As both were mods the owner did listen and split said board into two forums (sound familiar). Well lo and behold traffic in the sports forum began to dwindle while posting was soaring at the Pen we did quibble.

Well DEnise, and Jamie and Thomas and Logical too fought to the degree it killed the Pen too. Away, away, away went all back to the Planet with a better server to boot.

Together we did post in vastness and health while the BB did grow exponentially as well. Then one foggy fall day to what to our wonder cries did appear but that mean ole gal DEnise did appear. Came struggles and bitterness but a community was still built and it seemed nothing could ever be better than the Planet. Then came the evil, evil elections and what even the mean DEnise could not accomplish those elections did and the fabric of the Planet was ripped like a quilt.

A cry came anew from you will never guess who, sayeth Gaz we need to have a separate forum. Now much crying and screaming did ensue, we will ruin the Planet like was done to the Park.

Many votes were held and still no change when suddenly there came a poll with a story like thunder. Big Daddy switched sides and said yeah we need the separation and finally it happened the separation passeth.

Time wore on and survived we did, yet this was not enough to quiet the masses. Take that DC from sight they said and gone wad the DC link forthwith.

Now you have arrived at the time of today and we look forward each day to a new server. Because through it all we have endure the technical problems because in the end we have been a community and that has held us together.

I know this was not great literature but I have told this story so many times I had to do it different just to amuse myself.

I was only on there a few months before they shut it down. They warned us it was going down and we were competing to see who would get the last post. There was a little subforum named something talk where Pastor Mike posted under MHolman.

That was the TalkBack forum. The Talkback forum was supposed to be for reader's feedback to columns, storys, and such. I posted there for several years. Even continued to post for about 9 months after they shut it down because there were a number of us that had the link on their server bookmarked even after the link was gone from the paper's website. Manila Chief posted over there too.

It was kinda odd in a way, the Planet started because the Star BB was censored to the extreme, while the Talkback Forum never was censored. I guess they were too busy with you guys to bother with us. That's where I learned the smack talk. The group that posted there consisted of adults that wouldn't hold anything back.

After the Talkback was finally deleted from the server, I drifted to the newer Star BB for a while. Another oddity about the censorship is that while the first wave came here because of the censorship, I ended up coming here because they WOULDN'T censor the KCStar site. A certain group, that I will leave nameless, were being quite abusive and vulgar. One of them (the ringleader) kept talking about how horrible the Chiefsplanet website was. Since I didn't think much of his opinions, I figured that if he didn't like the planet, it might be alright so I checked this place out. I had a hard time keeping up at first, but I've been here ever since.

You are probably refering to TKarlin. He was a School Supt in eastern KS. The guy was one of the best smack talkers I've seen on the net. In fact, to be totally honest, I've stolen more than a few of his Gems from over there and used them here. He never did make it over here. They tried to do up their own little board for a while, but when there are only a dozen or so left and you've dished it out with each other for a couple of years, the smack talk gets pretty weak - no matter how good you are.

Then again, there was a DrCool too. He was a raiderette fan that got kicked around a lot. He was VERY outspoken. He did post here a few times, but tried to wade in blasting away at everyone that moved and didn't survive the pile-on that ensued.

Wow old memories that this brought up. Come to think of it I think I've been lurking the chiefsboards for almost 8 years now. Started out as a way to get chiefs info back when I was trapped in steeler country in college. I'd almost forgotten about Teicher's forum. Man I loved getting the 'inside' information back then ROFL . I remember back when the star got overwhelmed with the spammers and trolls. Nothing but garbage for 4 or more pages. For some reason there's one troll/bronco or raider fan that's popped in my head reading this. Don't remember anymore what he did nor why. But Lee Jackson was forever branded an ass :cuss: for the crap he pulled. But then again I doubt anyone remembers that from back then.

I remember things getting quiet back in the day but I had forgotten about all the bannings. It's been interesting watching the planet evolve from the begining. Hell I even remember pigskin park. But then again I'm just a lurker. Thanks for bringing up some old memories.

Right now, I am having to deal with a lot of personal things....first, my Dad went back into the hospital over Memorial Day Weekend, then my Mom had another set of mini-strokes on Memorial Day, which resulted in losing the use of her only good arm. Plus, when they ran some tests on her, they found that she has Vascular Dementia....looks like I am going to have to handle her affairs from now on.

I'd make a "please remember her in your thoughts and prayers" thread, but I think even I have gotten a little embarassed to do it anymore.

Glossary
Vascular Dementia

Vascular dementia refers to dementia that is caused by cerebrovascular disease (i.e., damage to the body's heart, lungs and/or blood vessels). It may be caused by a single stroke or aneurysm or by a series of smaller strokes or aneurysms (multi-infarct dementia).

Vascular dementia is the second most common form of dementia, after Alzheimer's disease. It is different from Alzheimer's in that symptoms may arise suddenly (e.g., after a stroke), whereas Alzheimer's tends to develop slowly, over years. Symptoms may include confusion and recent memory problems, but also getting lost in familiar places, trouble with incontinence, difficulty handling money, and emotional problems such as inappropriate laughing or crying.

The most important risk factor for vascular dementia is high blood pressure (which increases risk for strokes overall). It is rare for someone without high blood pressure to develop vascular dementia.

While damage from previous strokes cannot be reversed, the individual can be treated to reduce the risk of further strokes. Most of the risk factors (high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol) can all be controlled with proper diet, good health habits, and medication. Doctors also sometimes prescribe aspirin, which helps thin the blood and prevent clots that may cause further strokes.

Tim:

Thanks for the kind words.....

At this point the Dr. has said that due to the numerus strokes she has had, and the blockage of the blood vessels leading to the brain, part of her brain has atrophied. We have not been given a positive outlook, and the last couple of days that I have spent with her have been a struggle. She is fine in the AM, but it is a struggle in the afternoon and evening, as her brain gets "worn out" and her personality changes. It's real tough having someone you love get mad at you and take out their frustrations on you. She doesn't have anyone else in the family close to her, so I am her outlet. She has been living in an Assisted Living Center up until the most recent strokes, but now I have to place her in a full-time Nursing Home atmosphere...and it hurts to have to do it.

It's rough that you have to be the point guy. That's a job that will never get any easier.

I was in another state when my grandmother was going, so I saw her briefly a couple of times a year. She was never hostile - she just didn't know who anybody was. At first, she could still sense that I somehow belonged to her, but later, there was no recognition at all. The last time I saw her alive she was playing with a doll and babbling like an infant. I walked out of the nursing home, sat in my car and f#cking bawled. I never saw her alive again, but it didn't matter. The first KC Star Gathering was a Red head (Smell the People), a guy that looked like Hitler (Rod), memyselfi and Me.

If that isn't scary, I don't know what is.

Ah... Smltheppl.

Should Bob Dole post a scan of this worthless check?

Why did you do that? :hmmm:

Because I hate being a hypocrite. I created the name to expose some crap I disagreed with but then if I went back to the Phobia account I'm open to the "Tom Cash" criticism and it would be valid. In Philville, I'm protected since I killed the Phobia account first. I'm kinda retarded.

I lost 60 lbs after I quit smoking.

But then I also went on the carb diet and had more energy than a meth addict after a month...

Cutting back on soda and increasing water alone would help with most of it. Bike activity is good exercise, and sex is definitely a bonus.

The Planets gone nostaligic the last couple of days...

I would say that Tribal and Logical's historical looks back were pretty accurate, but I wasnt the only political 'activist' on the old Star BB.

The Star BB was truly a free for all and I joined in 97--I think, it's been too long to remember--just prior to the start of the 13-3 season that ended with the home loss to Denver. The biggest topics back in those days was the great Gannon v. Grbac debates. Those were some of the biggest, throw down, free for alls I can ever remember. There were, obviously, two camps--coined by denise-- as GrBackers and GrBashers--and we argued all the time about it, but it really was touched off during the 97 season and only got worse in 1998.

During those years, we had to wade through a LOT of Denver homer crap...you think Teej is bad with his homerish takes? It was nothing compared to Vance Johnson. Ive still got some stuff of his in my notepad file. The only Bronco fan to survive the old board was Mile High Mania. Other AFCW fans included Joe Seahawk and by the end of the Star days we had a few Raider fans--Hawaiianboy was the main one with denise coming in a close second.

Politics pretty much ruled the offseason, but it wasnt the nonsense that we live with today with all the Bush Lied People Died crap...it was more a current headline made news and typically people would divide up on either side of the issue and argue it for hours. In those days, you could be aligned with a couple of people that you were arguing against the previous day. I think it kept the board a bit fresh, because we could disagree without disagreeable--well most of us could.

At some point, leading up to the Bush/Gore Election--the main admin of the Star BB decided without any kind of announcement to ban all politics related threads and the authors of the threads. It was at that point that a good number of us with Kyle as our pied piper, who left the Star BB for ChiefsPlanet.

Shortly after the 'split', the Star announced they would be shutting the BB down to retool it. After the shutdown, most of the remaining die hards who held out to the last came over with a small contingent going to Pigskin Park. Pigskin's days were numbered when a poster created the alter ego 'KCGannonStalker' and parodied denise's web shrine to Rich Gannon. This led her to go ballistic and begin abusing her mod powers. While that didnt kill the Park, it did it significant damage and shortly thereafter it died when Jawaba stopped hosting the site.

Actually that was not it at all. He got all his football info from a media guide and it was obvious. One day someone (I think maybe it was either Luz or Titus) decided to expose it and asked him that question. Watching him flail was one of the funniest things I remember on this BB short of the All Idiot Team that was created to mock him.

It's so nice to be remembered.

Good to see you're still around Luz!!

I don't like the name changes either. Although I've been around since the last year or so of the StarBB v1, I'm still about half lurker round here, and my job can force me to vanish for long stretches. Guess I'm just not clever enough to deduce when somebody goes AKA on us.

I remember some "good times" on the talkback forum--that was my first experience with internet boards. I don't remember much of what was discussed/said, but I do think I remember your user name on there (sadly, I can't remember mine--I know it showed my e-mail address or something, but I can't rememebr what else)...

I then migrated to the star board under the name "The Bird" (used the same one on the Denver Post and InsideDenver--the two of which eventually led to the Orangemange), I think that was before talkback shut down...

It's quite rediculous how long ago that was...
