Safety Jarrad Page was drafted by the Angels today. His desire to play football has always been in question. He probably would be a practice squad player at best anyways, but why waste a pick?

sorry if this is a repost.

Hard to say a 7th rounder is ever a waisted pick.

Theres not a really such a thing called wasted 7th round pick. All you can hope for is to get lucky with it.

Hey, I'm an Angels fan AND a Chiefs fan and have been a fan of both for 30 years.

What has me scratching my head is WHY the Angels drafted Page in the first place in the 7th round.

Seventh rounders in baseball ususlly equate to a player who has accomplished something already or has a decent ceiling and is young enough that with work and time something may become something.

The guy was a .195 hitter at UCLA.

As a fan of both teams, I can only hope that he is successfull somewhere..... I think the Chiefs could use him more than the Angels.

Maybe the owner of the Angels is a Oakland fan or something...

This is just typical of Carl...I mean, you look at his 7th round picks over the years and they've all been miserable failures while every other NFL team has productive 7th rounders all over the place.

It's amazing that Carl still has a job.

Personally I consider anything we get from a pick after the 5th round to be gravy. With some notable exceptions those are the guys busting wedges on kickoffs. In other words, human cannon fodder.

Anyone remember M. Rodriguiz? The LB that we drafted in the 7th knowing he needed shoulder surgery.

Trent was an 8th round pick out of Indiana. I mean of course we didn't draft him and if we had, we would have released him.....but still.

With some notable exceptions

This caveat was there for a reason. I think Steve Tasker was a late round pick as well. There are exceptions.

Aren't nearly all of our draft picks wasted picks?

All 7th round NFL picks are glorified UDFAs, seriously, there is very very little difference. The 7th round is no more than an early UDFA recruiting, the exception being the team actually gets to lock their rights, rather than fight with every other team.

Now 7th round pick in MLB is a big deal, that's a pretty high pick. I agree with nomad, that appears to be a huge reach.
