I turned 50 Friday and had a pretty good birthday, thanks to the kids and wife....

Of course the Team at work decorated my office with the normal "Nifty, Nifty, mmaddog's turned 50" and "Over The Hill" decor...but I left early so that I could travel to KC to watch the Royals play last night. And luckily for me, the Royals pulled out the win in the 8th.

I got some cash from the MIL, and the wife bought me the 4th Season of "Home Improvement" that just came out this week.

Funny thing....turning 50 feels no different that turning 40.

You are only as old as you feel. Oh, and 50 is NOT old.

Happy Birthday bud!!!

After I turned 40 I accepted the fact that I was old and stopped letting birthdays bother me. I also started working out at the gym and at 53 I am in better shape than when I was 40.

60 is going to really suck but I not going to worry about that until I am 59.

okay, so "exactly" might be a bit of a stretch.

I'm actually 38, just not good at math.

You deal with it alot better than I do. I'm 23 and I'm already freaking out. Every day gets progressively worse than the last. Which means everytime you talk to me, that's the worst day of my life.

Lets think about this. Best days..

5 years old..play in sandbox, happy all of the time, no boners yet.

10 years old..still mess around, have a bunch of friends, play football at ur friends, don't have to talk to chicks yet, no real homework yet but have to go to school, have so much leisure time it's uncanny.

15 years old..no car payment, no job still, now you are attracted to chicks (bad deal) and you have homework. Glory years in HS sports.

20 years old...car payment, apartment payments, ton of college homework, parents yelling at you for getting a C in physics. But hey, at least you party like a rockstar.

23 years old...just graduated college, poor, have to look for job, all of your friends have moved to various parts of the country, start to go bald, drive a 98 dodge stratus that is purple. Post on Chiefsplanet.com up to 35 times a day..

The only thing I got goin' for me is two Chiefs season tickets. Bout it

don't get yourself down, BWillie.

you're not old until your 50 (sorry mmaddog)

I went through that same sh!t when I graduated 2 years ago, it passes.

I would think about my college days every day on my drive to work, get really depressed.

It passes, your new life as a 9-5er gets to be the norm (which sounds depressing, but enjoying life is all perception)

I turned 50 Friday and had a pretty good birthday, thanks to the kids and wife....

I turned 50 in January.. the wife gave me a surprise party with a couple dozen friends. It was awesome!

My gifts included a bag of Depends and a cane with a reflector and a horn on it. Ha ha. :)

Happy Bday Maddog!!! From one who knows exactly how you feel....

25 hit me pretty hard. I think it had to do with expectations. I had so many things that I expected to do/be by the time I turned 25, and I ended up batting .000. I'll be 30 in November. I don't think I'm going to have any sort of problem with it. Life is pretty much day to day now, with little expectation outside of the norm. I think 40 will be a killer. I have a few expectations by then.

50 is the new 40. At least that is what the celebrities try to tell themselves.

To all...thanks for the comments!

I remember being the same age as "sedated" and thinking that 50 meant "out to pasture" time. Now I realize that it meant I would be much wiser and less prone to those mistakes I made when I was much younger...

Here's to all of you who are not there yet...may you be lucky enough to reach my milestone, and may you be as richly blessed as I am.
